Steam GOTY Vs. GOG GOTY

If I just get the most recent steam GOTY build and play that instead of my GOG version will I avoid all the MOD issues all together since most modders use the steam version? It's on sale right now and would be a better time than any.

Anyone please? Hate to double post but it's payday and I want to purchase before I blow my money on other crap like food or rent.

I'd rather play it safe and not have to mod the GOG version, plus I find steam more reliable and like I said, most mods are out of the box for steam is the word going around. :)

 

So would I be better off?

This is not a "mod" in its traditional way, its a patch which almost removes all differences between the game versions . So in that case it does not matter what version to buy.

But if I did want to get the steam version I would be ok? I really want to take advantage of the steam sale. I am a steamhead. LOL So it wouldn't be different either way? And thanks. :)
