ohGr
ignore the topic description, i have a question on making grass in 3D studio max, yes, i cant find a hint through out the tutorials it comes with (if you actually got a retail box set, youll know what i mean), im stumped on how to make grass, and i mean nice grass, like the grass from Unreal Tournament 2003, except probably more triangles (poly's) and smaller, because, i want to cover areas in grass, they'll be like 20triangles per set of grass, sounds crap, nah, UT2003 is only 18, but their 2d, which is what ill be doing, but there will be so many, its as if you put nothing in a room, and it still runs fine on a low end machine (mine for example), but, i cant find a single tutorials on making something like it, and as for the texture, i dont have a single clue on making that, i have paintshop pro 7, so i can make it, just dont know how. Peregrine
http://www.habasanfleet.com/jrp_fciv.jpg You mean grass like that? There's a plugin (I'll find it and tell you if you want) that creates grass on a surface you select, but as you can guess from the picture, it gets up to an insane poly count really fast. Every blade of grass in that picture is a 20 or so poly model. If you're just looking for smaller patches of grass, start with a plane, about 8 segments tall x 3 wide. Then move each vertex into position until you have something that looks like a grass blade. Then you just apply the texture to the model and clone it a few times to get the full patch of grass. I don't know if Morrowind supports this, but you could add an alpha channel (opacity map, but part of the texture) the textures and place a smooth edged grass texture on a boxy model and let the transparency do the rest. If that doesn't make sense, tell me and I'll post some pictures of what I'm talking about.
ohGr
holy fruitbowls that looks good  i found a tutorial on making some grass, and it came with a plugin, so i might ask the author if i can use it in a mod of mine, if he says no, then ill have to follow the tutorial and make it my own, problem is, the grass looks amazing, ill quickly get the screenshot. ...the site with all the tutorials is...http://www.huntfor.com/3d/tutorials/max.htmproblem is, their all for versions 2 and 3 <_< the grass one is here, with a nice rendered screenshot at the tophttp://www.digitalproducer.com/pages/rezin_grass.htm amazing work it is, it seems there is over 450,000 poly's in there, so i might just...not use as much, if i end up doing so and it runs to slow on my computer (which is bound to lag any geforce 3 card) then i might just see what happens when i put the grass in from Unreal Tournament 2003, whats the link for the plugin, because, very soon, im re-installing morrowind, due to my laptop almost arriving, ill be lagging it up with my geforce fx 5200 go (which will be a fx 5650 go ultra, MUHAHAHAH). since every blade of grass is 20poly's in that screenshot...id be aiming around half, i dont intend to completely flood some areas, just to throw it in the needed areas, because since the grass with morrowind is somewhat around 200-500 poly's, covering a 4cell island will cause some drawing issues.
