GimmeBackMyMoney
Weird or not, these are things I always end up doing: Regardless of the type of character I play, I will always collect rare, expensive and DLC-exclusive weapons fully modded with WME mods. I always hope to find a H&K L30 Gatling Laser (I always use the CFW mod). I will never side with the Legion since there is more to do to help the NCR. Plus, they are completely and utterly unrelatable. I also never have, besides going with their ending on occasion just to see how my decisions play out. I do the same thing with the Powder Gangers - their quest, I Fought The Law can be completed by destroying them so why not go with that? Their patrols keep on attacking me so they don't deserve MY help. I kill Oliver Swanick, Malcolm Holmes, Tomas and/or Jacklyn. I make ALL my characters look just right, male or female. Or I get lazy and go with one of the male presets (they're usually good enough) and use Mojave Delight for females. But I'm also fussy about hairstyles and facial hair. I like switching to third-person view on occasion just to see how dashing my character looks. All brawls are done in third person view. Especially if I'm wearing some sweet Power Armour. This leaves me at the end of the bell curve, apparently. I must produce one set of Gecko-Backed Reinforced Leather and Metal Armour and usually equip Boone with the leather armour till I get hold of the Scorched Sierra PA. I don't nuke the NCR, I just have all LR locations unlocked by default. Just because. Veronica always gets the Assassin's Suit. I usually lean towards the House ending. My characters are usually given a name associated with the type of characters. For example, Rosie Riveter uses PN's homemade weapons, the railway rifle and the H&H Nail Gun. Garrett is dressed in the Hazmat Suit and a black hood from a mod, with his weapons being any knife, the cattle prod, mines and throwing spears as the closest thing to arrows. The Demolisher specialises in heavy weapons. However, I don't always stick to these weapons due to a lack of self-restraint on my part, nor do I always make decisions and choose dialog options that would suit that character. Though I try to most of the time. Cass and Boone get plenty of ammo and dynamite belts to go with their outfits. I mod the game so that over 90% of weapons (both vanilla and PN) are given proper (or better) weapon names and even managed to improvise some entirely fictional ones too. Talwyn224
I'm yet another one who doesn't use power armour except in 2 cases: Lonesome Road & the final battle of the Hoover Dam. I feel LR is probably the best representation of post apocalypia and as such, it feels right to wear t-51b armour when walking through that irradiate hellscape. And the final battle is a major battle and as such, it feels right to don the tin can and let the bullets ping off you. When in Vegas I wear normal clothing, when outside I wear basic combat armour plus a helmet and shades. Things I do: When I find hollow rocks I resupply them with spare food, ammo and stims plus and extra items like weapons and clothing. I leave food & water for the guy in Nipton who's legs have been broken by the legion. I don't usually have enough med-x at the time for him to kill himself but I do give him what I have. I watch the lotto winner run off into the desert only to be killed by giant scorpions, lucky day huh? Very amusing. I always decorate Victors shack and the Overseers Office in Vault 3 to make it look like I live there. I always clean up Vault 3, removing all the bodies and trash as I plan on getting it functional again. I stock the lockers with items and leave armour and weapons in positions as to wear I'd post guards etc when my "crew" moves in. I collect as many of those Toy Rockets as I can and display them in my player housing. I like having a well stocked bar of alcohol in every house on display along with glasses and pitchers for making cocktails.
Donnerkeil
- I quicksave about once every 10-20 seconds. Just an odd compulsion I have. During long dialog sequences (such as the beginning of Old World Blues), I start to feel anxious and uncomfortable because it won't let me quicksave. Before every major and minor gunfight I quicksave, and if it doesn't go exactly how I want it to, I re-load the game until I get it right.- All my characters must wear Daniel's Hat.- All my characters are Charisma based and avoid combat if possible. Cyberlazy
I replace 20,000 small rocks with trees and other vegitation with modfusion. Looks really good...donnerkeil: I do the same thing about saving. Sometimes I retry a good gunfight just for fun. "lets see, if I bounce the grenade off the wall I think I can take out at least 3 guys with one grenade. Lets try it. Nope missed. reload. (10 mins later). YAY AWESOME, did it! All 3 guys, one grenade!"
TKDBoy1889
I do quite a few unique things (Though some are apparently not so unique after reading all these posts. XD) . 1. I never wear power armor. First, it looks so impersonal. Two, I prefer a challenge. Three, I tend to imagine my character as a wandering warrior, going place to place and doing what needs to be done, and that kind of person would more likely wear leather armor rather than T-51b armor. Four, in general I have a tendency to prefer quickness over brute strength in any game I play. 2. I try to handicap myself from using stimpaks. I try to only use them in I'm literally near death in a gun fight, opting to rely on food and drinks instead for healing. 3. I never buy weapons, All weapons that I use, I find in loot or off of enemies. I just think it's awesome to rely on on what you find in the waste, rather than go to the local store and buy all the stuff. 4. I tend to use revolvers, shotguns, and repeater rifles in combat mostly. 5. I never side with Caesar's legion. Those evil, corrupt, *beep*'s are just insanely cruel and I prefer to shoot them on site.
DaybreakerPrime
I don't like heavy armor, partly because of the fashion issue (maybe if it looked more like Iron Man?) and mostly because of the speed issue. The Legion and I are always at instant odds. "Hi! We're the Legion! We're sadistic slavemongers! Whatcha gonna do about it?" "Well, I think I'll punch you in the face until you stop trying to sadistically enslave everybody, or until you're dead, whichever comes first." Pencils! Constantly collecting the pencils! Also anything else that's weightless, but especially pencils. I try to carry one of everything, just in case it somehow becomes useful. This requires a pretty high weight allowance. Jojash
I alienate both the NCR and the Legion... the Legion, because they're just pretty evil all in all and the NCR because they're full of themselves. On a side note, the Legion have far superior assassins. They're much more professional about the whole thing, they don't talk down to you or act as if the only outcome is their victory. The NCR, on the other hand, well, I think anyone who's had rangers come after them knows what I'm talking about. I didn't think this was unique but apparently it is, I do wear power armour! Although, it's usually from a mod... I always name my characters after Norse and Greek deites. My characters are all female. For my offensive skills I always go for unarmed and explosive skills first, because if you can't punch it and you can't blow it up, why bother? whodat1
I was re-reading this thread and thought of a few other quirks my characters usually have. Like someone mentioned above, I don't leave dead bodies laying around in civilized places (I don't worry about it out in the wasteland). I just realized that every character I played in Fallout 3 was female and everyone I played in New Vegas was male (even though I flip back and forth between the two games). I always kill Benny in the Tops with a pair of Brass Knuckles (5 times now). On my last play through I killed Kimbal, Caesar and House and still had very good karma. As much as I try, I can never get to a Legion ending. I seem to always (through mods) take Sunny and Willow as companions. I've tried vanilla companions, but the only one I can stand is ED-E. I usually pick humorous names for my character. My last play though I did a Kwi Chang Caine based character, but he was named Wun Phat Ho.
Shidentora
Meh, just as in FO3, I often forget any quests and just wander off into the wastes to explore and gather stuff I need. I save a lot, of course, as I know that I'll meet something dangerous sooner or later. On the beginning of a new game, I tend to fight my way north through the Casadores and Vipers and to reach the Gun Runners. I deliberately fight and kill any human enemy (fiends) I can find to loot their stuff and sell it for stuff I need. And so I arm myself, gather supplies, gain experience, hone my chosen skills (guns, barter, repair) etc. and once I'm done, I go on wandering and listening to the desert wind. Do a quest, go on wandering and exploring and then, when I harden enough - I go straight to the Deathclaw Promontory, armed and armored like an amphibious tank. I frequently leave my bones there, too! Edited July 18, 2012 by Shidentora
