Je3roWise
Hello, Thanks for the help! :wallbash:  I put my FO3 install disk in and nothing happens. I hear it spin but nothing shows up on the drive icon. After about a minute or two, the disk stops spinning. I click the drive icon but nothing is in the folder. The disk has no scratches it is a new install on an upgraded computer. I can load other games with no problem. I played this game up till about a year ago. I was using the mod manager so I didn't use the disk to play the game. I have tried Both the Fallout 3 that came out before the addon packs and the Game of the year edition. Neither one of the install disk will read. I have the same problem with "The Witcher". BUT! I have Doom3 and it installs just fine.!? My music Cd's play good also. Could it be windows live is the problem? I'm Dieing here! I booted in safe mode but got the same results. Some how i got around this once before but I can't remember what I done. Any help would be Awesome!!!

Fonger
FO3 source disks use securom -- is this blocking your install
Je3roWise
Well, I'm not sure if Securom is the problem or not. Don't know enough about it. Is wasn't a problem the first time I loaded the game several months ago. What I can tell you is, all of my games for windows live "Games" , will not show up in the drive. All of my other games read just fine. I had read something about the way the disk were made, after a while, the disk are just unreadable. The layers separate or warp and can't be read. Only seen this comment once, besides that, it seams to be just the Microsoft Games with windows live, and it happened to all the Microsoft Games with windows live at the same time. I seam to remember using safe mode to get around some problem when I first purchased the game. I played the game several months. I had the mods installed so I didn't need the disk. I had to reinstall a couple times because I messed up installing a mod. I had no problem then. I had a problem with a ram stick so I just bought a new motherboard and processor, all new ram sticks and a better power box. Everything works great but these games. No optical issues with anything else. I have tried it in the DVD ROM and DVD RAM drive with same results.
Je3ro
OK! We have an update! I was able to load all of my Games for windows Live games, except for the FO3 and FO3 GOTY. Disk just will not read. I tried the following, Left it in drive for 30 minutes. safe mode DVD RAM drive and DVD ROM drive. I found that I had two bad DIMM sticks that were not letting me load The Witcher and the other games. go figure that one.

Je3ro
 Hey! I got the problem solved! I remembered I had changed out the DVD drive after I had already loaded FO3 a couple yrs ago.I never needed the disk because of the mod manager. After I had rebuilt this computer, The DVD drive wouldn't read the disk because I had changed it... I swapped out the dvdrom with an older one. Now, every game I have works just fine!!! :D I have come to the conclusion, that SecuRom is most likely the problem, but what do I know, I've only had a computer for a few yrs. Most of this stuff is still Greek to me. Thanks for the heads up their "FONGER" I read up on that SecuRom thingy. I wonder why they can't fix that? Thanks for the help!
