HeLLL
You are correct Rune. Nerevar was a Dunmer General. But as said before the Nerevarine is to be "Born on an uncertain days to uncertain parents" so by that <That was the first prophicie> you can kind of take the opinon that the neverine can be ANY race. FlyingFox
Yes, like HeLLL said, though Lord Nerevar was a Dunmer, the Nerevarine (it is said in the Lost Prophecy) is an outlander, race uncertain.
Lilarc
 Who the hell cares if the nerevarine is a redguard? Indian doctrines on reincarnation states that if a god person dies, he'll be elevated into something cooler... but if a bad one hits the dust, he could be a cockroatch, a rat or... a cliffracer. My nerevarine was a Nord... and you're right - he oughtta be an outlander. ;)
redstreak1
Since everyone's on this Nerivarine note, I'm kinda in the middle of the road here. Yeah, prophicies and everything, one would expect the Nerivarine to be Dumner, and the irony is, during my first game, I CHOSE to be Dumner. :o However, at the time I didn't know squat about the prophicies so it was a weird, lucky thing. I read the prophecy thing, and yeah, Dumner or no Dumner it fits. The whole 'born unto uncertain parents' line pretty much says it all. Besides, if anyone really believes in reincarnation...uh...isn't part of the ticket involving being reborn as something different? Playing my second game now as a Nord, but second time around I chose it because I feel a Nord would be very appropriate for a later game in Bloodmoon, which I plan to purchase soon! :D B) I doubt it'll make much difference altogether, I found the legends and prophecy thing fun when I originally played and still do now. :)
FabFour
I chose to be a dunmer the first time (as you probably can see in my sig) just because I think they're cool :D
Shakkara
Read those books you get in the monestary.
Ta'Thalos
What books exactly? And I've played the game through as nord before, and I restarted the game(s) as one now. I like battle-oriented characters I guess. But what makes it so great being a Nordic Nerevarine is that the Nords were in fact the greatest enemy of the Chimer/Dunmer (and the Dwemer); the Nords' invasion brought the Dunmer tribes and the Dwemer houses together, and even now my Nord Nerevarine brought the tribes together with me as their Nerevarine, and the Houses together with me as their Hortator. Also, I worked out the Disappearance of the Dwarves, which plays in nicely with the history. ;)The races I think wouldn't be good as the Nerevarine are the Orc, Altmer, Hist, Bosmer and Khajiit. All the others either have an ironic twinge to them (Nord, Imperial), don't really belong anywhere (Breton, Redguard), or fit really well (Dunmer). On the other hand, I really like the 'beast-race' characters.. I'm planning a Hist/Argonian Nerevarine after I've completed Bloodmoon and had a long break from Mw. :)

All the others either have an ironic twinge to them (Nord, Imperial), don't really belong anywhere (Breton, Redguard), or fit really well (Dunmer). Interesting you should mention that, when I made the Breton character I'm now using it was with the intention that he would serve no real purpose at all. Other than to take up some guild memberships and have loose affiliations with a great house, which is now Telvanni. My first character though was a Dumner assassin who turned out to take up the role of fighting for the Morag Tong against the Dark Brotherhood, expose the falacy of Almalexia, and become Nerevarine and Hortator. I think, at least in my experience, that race has played a major role in how each character developed and how they wanted to pit themselves in the affairs of Vvardenfell. wesaynothin
I agree with what Thanateros said. Whenever I make a char for Neravine/Great House, it is Dunmer. If I have one for the Impeial Cult or the Legion, it is Imperial. Mages Guild=Breton. Fighters Guild=Redguard. Thieves Guild=Khajit. Freeplay=Argonian. I take all of these from What i have learned of all their cultures.
