A quick question re followers.

I have several mods that alter the housecarls. But I was in a fight and Lydia died, even though I had marked her as essential in a small mod I made. One of the later companion mods I downloaded must have "unticked" her. I am not suing NexusModManager, just letting the game load them in data on start up.

Am I right in saying the last mod in that list would be the settings used for things such as companions?

How do i alter the list of mods, Skyrim default data seems to use alphabetical order. I downloaded a mod that says it must come after 2 other mods.? How can i change it?

Thanks for any help.

The best way is to use a third party mod manager like the Nexus Mod Manager. It will allow you to determine your own load order. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/content/modmanager/

The really frustrating part of this is that the order you see the files in Skyrim's data window is not the order they're loaded in! They're listed alphabetically, but I understand they're loaded based on "last modified" date (going oldest to newest), which is how some mod managers alter the load order. (The exception is that .esm files are always loaded first, then .esp files; within each grouping, however, "last modified" date determines the order.)

Despite always acknowledging the importance of load order, Bethesda's games have never been good at letting you specify the load order. I tend to steer clear of mods that require a specific load order as a result, because I don't use third-party mod managers. Sounds like from Sunnie's post that they're finally going to address that though? About gorram time!

Edit: Yup, they did, and it's here already!
