House decorating troubles

I collected many artifacts and trinkets which I'd like to display on shelves in Breezehome, however, I have lots of trouble with this.

Currently I'm trying to place a statue of Dibella on the left endtable next to my bed. I carefully arranged the statue, saved the game, slept in my bed and saved again but whenever I reload the game or return from a journey the statue lies on the ground. This is very annoying. I had this issue with the Right Eye of the Falmer but eventually it stayed on it's place for some unknown reason.

Is there a way to lock items to their place so they don't fall off or mysteriously teleport to a different location? A console command or a mod maybe?

Toddkay, a modder with some kewl home deco uploads, example:

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=10216

says the following:

How to decorate your house without physics issues (this goes for ANY Skyrim object):

01) Enter your house, drop all the items onto the floor (do so in batches of less than 10 for safest results).

02) Save the game (still INSIDE your house).

03) Load the game you just saved.

04) BEFORE touching ANY object, exit your house then re-enter (very important).

05) Now you can grab onto your objects and move them around how you want.

06) If you accidentally pick an object up into your inventory, you'll need to repeat the steps above before placing it where you want it.

And there you have it. You can freely exit your house now, and everything will be just how you left it when you come back.

One of the great mods from Oblivion was one that let you manipulate (turn and handle) and place items and "fix" them to a location/spot so you could decorate your house. I've been playing around with the CK trying to do this myself, but it isn't as easy as it sounds and items seem to have different characteristics and even different than those in Oblivion. If I ever succeed, I'll likely post it to Nexus.

I have had the same experience as you (I'm a bit freaked we have placed the same statue in the exact same place in the same house in the same game) and it seems it takes a number of tries before items stay where they are placed. The statue has stayed where I've placed it for a while now since doing so about 5 different times previously, so there is hope that some perserverence will be successful, if not a bit frustrating, in getting items to stay where they are placed.

I had read somewhere that dropping the items on the floor, leaving the house, saving, then returning to inside the house and then placing the item wherever helps keep them in place. It didn't work for me, but it don't hurt to try. Good luck.

Are you placing the statue near anything else that has havok e.g. a plate. If so then it may be getting bumped when the other item resets it's position.

The tip posted above by thesapien is very similar to what I have always done, and I rarely have a problem with things moving.

I stole Haelga's Dibella statue, I sold it to a fence then bought it right back thinking it will be clean but it's still marked as stolen.

Anyway, as I said I was trying to place it on the end table with no success. I got fed up with it, went back to Riften and grabbed the smaller Dibella statute from Mercer's manor and low and behold that one stayed on the end table.

Encouraged by this, I placed Haelga's statue on the other end table but it was still reluctant to stay on its place. I think I'm just going to play it nice and bring it back to Haelga's bunkhouse where it belongs, it gave me too much trouble and now I have the other one.
