Tribute to Alienslof

I'm just posting my support. I have tremendous respect for all modders great and small. All love and respect to Alien Slof.

In any forum, the most negative tend to be the most vocal. Their negativity is a symptom of a bigger issue in their life and has nothing to do with what they are actually complaining about. Ignore them.

She's done some awesome work and yes, some aren't just happy unless they make someone else as miserable as they themselves are, which is what it all boils down too. Those that mod will just go to where people like those haters can't get to them and the mods will be kept to those that they can trust.....so who loses in the end?

Some of her work is definitely not to my taste (slofs boners), so i havent download them, even though i got a laugh at the pictures. I do however make use of her Horse mods, they just the best textures. So i too feel bad about all the flaming she got. If you dont like the work dont download it, Simple.

And flamers should get banned, they have wrong attitude

To be honest I'm not a big fan of most of slof's mods but I do love her Giger armor and Xivilai race. Those mods of hers I didn't like guess what I did,

A: Yell and scream at her with my fingers untill I gave myself a tumor and forced a great modder into hiding?

B: Make several accounts to give her bad reviews and be a bad troll is bad?

C: Acted mature and smart like my mother raised me?

Your damn right it's A <_< >_> <_< I mean C, C damnit :). Parents really should teach their children manners. Hope the flamers got banned. If some one flammed some one else to the point of hiding they really need to get removed from the general community.

EDIT --- A million apologies in advance if my rant causes any offense; I'm not seeking to bash the male players and say it's their fault, but I think the majority of very young male players factors into what is seen in the mods that get released. Feel free to tell me if I say anything unreasonable; like anyone I go off ranting without thinking when something annoys me.

Isn't this an old topic? There are plenty of Miss Slof's mods here on the Nexus.

I'm not into the majority of her mods only because I don't ever play male characters, but I know she does awesome textures. I can't bear to look at a horse in Oblivion without Slof's Horses installed. In both Oblivion and Morrowind the Khajiit look like garbage to me without her works (Better Beasts and her Khajiit re-texture).

A lot of people just can't look past those mods of hers themed for male characters, which is sad ... that's not all she does, and I think, as I've seen discussed plenty of time, it's "wrong" for a male to wear something erotic, where it's okay for a female to do, and expected if nothing else.

All feminism aside, I'm not trying to be feminist, but wow ... do any of those who bash what Slof does know how unfairly insulting it is to a female that people see it that way?

I just quit playing Oblivion entirely as of a couple of days ago because I just got tired of all the ridiculous mods overflowing the amazing ones, plus ... gosh, I can't play Oblivion without so many mods ... it turns into a crash fest and an uninstall-reinstall fest more than anything.

But, what can one expect from a gaming community dominated by younger male players?

:wallbash:

I hope things look up come the next Elder Scrolls. I'm contemplating burning my Oblivion disk, actually. The craze of beautifying characters has really dragged me away from what I enjoyed about the game, I took screen shots more than I played, downloaded mods more than I played ... and un-installed and reinstalled my game more than I played. Gah!

I am usually not inclined to comment on fourms, unless it is to thank someone for giving of them self... like the moderators on this site, and Slof for the wonderful talent of hers that she shares. And I don't care where she posts because the very first time I saw her work, I found her website so that I could enjoy more of her talent. I am a big fan.

I am wrting because I noticed that this topic has been going on thru 14 pages, and I want to know if anything has been done about the "Flamers" that got this topic started. Do we know who they are so that they can be baned... or, as someone mentioned, Teach them some manners? And if not, what's the point?

One other thing... if you aren't a fan of the awesome Slof and the wonderful artwork that she so kindly shares with all of us, DO NOT mention that in your post. It is totally counter productive to say "I don't like your work, BUT I support you." Leave the negative out of your post, because even if you say that you support Slof, by saying that you are not a fan takes away any good you may have attempted to show. If you think that people who share their mods are cool, nice, wonderful, kind, because they do it out of love of the art and not for money (Like me) then say that... I believe that these folks are blessed and that sharing their talent with us is truly artistic. No one is going to "like" everything, and is not expected to... but at the very least everyone who uses mods (as opposed to MAKING mods) must agree that these wonderful artist do not need to hear that you aren't a fan. Just say that you support their arttistic contribution, and leave the painful negative comments on your own computer... if that is too hard to do, then don't bother posting a comment at all. The rest of us are tired of reading this BS.

OK so here is the point, just in case you missed it... in a thread that is in support of someone, as this one is for Slof, remember that it is NOT supportive when you start your post by saying "I am not a fan, but..." because that isn't the point.

Get it?

I will say that the new Terms of Commenting, have greatly reduced the flames and trolling comments and ratings on the site.

Those that fail to obey are banned for the most part, some may be given a chance depending on posting/rating history.

If the comment is something like this, it is a one way ticket out:

This mod sux.

You f@&#!t.

This is just poo.

Porn in oblivion.

The best rule is, if you have nothing constructive to add to the discussion of this mod, pass it by without comment.

There is also a new feature on the site to disable ratings and comments, which Slof and others have embraced so as not to have complaints/flaming comments/trolling comments publicly displayed.

Yeah....I'm fairly new to modding, myself, but I do know quite a lot of modders who've complained of trolls.

Slof's re-uploaded most of her files now, btw, having checked her site recently.

I love those mods, just because I want to send my sweet-looking elves into battle wearing unprotective armor. (OK except in the Jerall Mountains maybe....)
