Dragons never attack cities

Right so from what the developers have said this is the expected dragon behavior:

 

Most want to kill you: Check.

They will also attack anything else around: Check

Some dragons will just fly around and be a dragon and not want to fight: Check but too many people report as a bug WHEN IT IS NOT A BUG!!!!

Dragons will attack towns: I have never ever ever ever had this happen in all the time Ive played Skyrim. EVER. One came close to Whiterun and spooked the guards but left soon after but he never came inside the walls and Ive never seen a dragon inside the walls of a city.

^ Yes, this is exactly what I've been experiencing. I've never seen a dragon attack within city walls on any of my saves.

I suppose you are just unfortunate enough to never witness a dragon attacking. I have had numerous occasions with dragons attacking.

 

I have encountered dragons in the following:

 

Once in Winterhold

Once in Whiterun

Once in Windhelm

Once in Markarth

Once in Solitude

Every update has changed the behavior of the dragons, because people are constantly complaining.

 

1.0 Skyrim had tons of dragons and perpetual dragon skeletons. This got buggy. (I once had 6 skeletons in the College grounds....)

1.1 Made the skeletons non-perpetual.

1.2 Made dragons fly backwards.

1.3 Fixed the dragons but made a metric butt-ton of them. People complained that they were like Skyracers...

1.4 Made dragons less common. Now people complain that there aren't enough.

 

So, anyone who has done most of their playing since 1.4 probably has not experienced a lot of dragon fights in cities. Anyone who played from the release has probably gotten lots and lots.

 

Thus, everyone is right. It just depends.

I've been playing pretty heavily since the 1.1 patch. I don't understand why I never see dragons attack cities. :(

 

I guess I'll make another character and hope for the best.

This is unbelievable to me. Dragons attack in cities frequently in my game (in all 3 playthroughs, too). I killed one dragon in Morthal but didn't get its soul. It's been flopping around the streets for months.

on my 2nd playthru and have never had a dragon enter and attack a inside a city (only towns).

figured this is because cities, unlike towns, are not part of the Skyrim open world mesh; so,

dragons (or anything else for that matter) simply cannot gain access from Skyrim unless scripted to do that.

hope i'm wrong, would like to see a dragon godzilla a city but do not want any npc's to die.

wonder if there is something in the game AI that sets this flag or if this is truly random.

I've definitely had one attack me inside Riften - right in the market center and also in Winterhold - right in the mage college courtyard. I remember that well because...

 

 

Mirabelle was giving me the tour and after the dragon attacked (and was killed) she wouldn't continue the tour. She just kept saying "We can talk after the tour" then she would just walk off (I read somewhere that this is indeed a bug). I had to go meet Tolfdir on my own. (which was the fix) After I did that Mirabelle acted normally again. This is my 1st playthrough lvl 47.

 

 

On another note... almost every time I've done a fast travel, a dragon shows up. It's actually a little aggravating.

There's something evil going on. Seems like everytime I check this thread I find another dragon attacking within a city. First Riften and now this time it was Whiterun.
