cobraquente
Good Morning Some mod broke my SKSE and I'll need to clear all the steam content and revalidate the files. I want to uninstall the Nexus and reinstall without leaving any residuals from the previous installation, what is the correct way to do this? ShayVizla
Greetings cobra, you can uninstall NMM from your computers control panel in the uninstall a program option. This should remove everything without leaving any trace but if you want you can manually delete anything left over by checking the location you installed NMM to. I presume you have a windows computer as per the above.
cobraquente
Thank you When I reinstall the nexus it still preserves the list of the previous mods and the configuration of the folders. Okay, this should be no problem. About the configuration of the previous Mods I hope that the Nexus does not preserve information. Is there any more file that needs to be cleaned? Shadyfan4500
Well NMM has a way of being able to invade any one of your hard drives if you allow it. If you want to COMPLETELY remove all traces of NMM's existance, you'll have to go to the Games folder on any drive you allowed NMM to place or modify one - most likely the C drive if you're on windows. In the root of that drive, C:\, will be a folder called Games. In this, is where NMM keeps the list of mods and the mod files themselves. I don't know exactly whether or not NMM checks this folder to create the mod list it keeps or if it has a file in the folders in Games that contains the mod list, but if you get rid of the Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Skyrim folder, it will get rid of the modlist for NMM regardless of whether or not the mods are actually installed on Skyrim or not. I have 2 hard drives, (technically 1 and an SSD), formally 3, and at some point NMM has touched all 3. I ditched the 1st hard drive at some point and installed Win8 on my SSD, and had to get all my mods back. They were all on the 2nd hard drive so that wasn't a problem - except for Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3. The mod folders in Games associated with those games were still on the 1st hard drive. I loaded up NMM for New Vegas to find the Mods tab completely empty and the Plugins tab full of black text, orange text, and red text (missing/broken mods). It seems that, even after I transferred the mods back in from the hdd, there were still broken mods (they were disabled and NMM wasn't allowed to access them for some reason). Once I dragged the folder over to the current directory, the Mods tab was once again populated. (I did get it all sorted out in the end, even if I did have to completely reinstall FNV twice, make 2 merged patches, and reinstall several mods several times) EDIT: I wouldn't get rid of the Games folder completely. Other mod managers like FOMM are known to use this folder. If you've never used FOMM or OBMM or anything like that then you don't need to worry about that. If you ever go to install them they'll just create the folder. Edited July 15, 2017 by Shadyfan4500
