jesternario
Okay, so I have New Vegas on both 360 and PC with all addons on both. I'd like to add some mods to make the PC experience more unique and would be welcome to any suggestions from the Nexus community, if you'd be so inclined. Any suggestions are welcome, but I have a few priorities to suggestions I'd like to see first: What mod manager software would you suggest? I hear that NMM is not the best for New Vegas. Having come from modding Skyrim first, I have to wonder if there is something similar to the Unofficial Skyrim Patch for New Vegas. I prefer to play cowboy in the game, preferring lever-action weaponry and the whole duster-wearing archetype. What are some good suggestions? What are some good recommendations for quest mods? What is the best body mod?Again any suggestions are welcome, and appreciate any suggestions.
dubiousintent
Before you do anything, please read the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article. There are a number of things you need to be aware of, even if you have experience modding other games. As for your specific questions, much is a matter of personal preference but I will try to be objective. 1. If you have experience with "Wrye Bash", then I recommend using "Wrye Flash" (the FNV version). If you do not have experience with other mod managers, then I suggest FOMM (Forked), which was specifically intended for Fallout 3 and NV and is a mature product. "Mod Organizer" is a more modern approach, but the author has been hired by Nexus to write their replacement for NMM so it is now maintained by community efforts. All of these managers, including links to manual and/or tutorials on their use are found in the "General Advice" article linked above. 2. Yes. It's called YUP. See the "Towards Game Stability" section of the above article. 3. The game caters to that stereo-type. Vanilla has "Perks", but you only get them every other level-up. (There are mods that enable you to change that.) Read up on the "perks" in a game specific wiki such as "The Vault" or "Nukapedia", and plan your progression before you start playing. 4. An "advanced search" on "best quests" in the FNV forums produced this result: [https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?app=core&module=search§ion=search&do=search&fromsearch=1] of past recommendations. "Most endorsed" in the "Quests and Adventures" section of the Nexus are also a reasonable guide. 5. See the "Body Replacement Basics" section of the above article. Most common mods are mentioned there. Later when you encounter problems, remember to provide the information requested in the wiki "How to ask for help" article. The first stop for most common issues should be the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide. There are many good articles in the wiki on more specialized subjects. Take advantage of them. -Dubious- Edited July 17, 2017 by dubiousintent
jesternario
I can easily play the game using perks like normal on the 360. I was looking for extra, like new rifles and armor that people might find fun.
madmongo
There are a couple of revolver rifle mods. Revolver rifles in the real world were horrible. There's a gap in a revolver between the cylinder and the barrel (so that the cylinder can spin) and gas, powder residue, and small bits of lead go flying out through that gap at very high velocities. It's no biggie for a revolver pistol, because you have both hands behind the cylinder. With a revolving rifle though, your left hand is in front of the cylinder, and all of those gases and bits of lead, etc. go flying into your left arm at high velocity. Ouch. Revolving rifles also had a tendency to chain fire (firing all cylinders at once) if they weren't kept spotlessly clean. Revolving pistols at the time had the same issue, but again, the problem was much worse with the rifle because your left arm was right next to the exploding cylinder. On the other hand, revolving rifles look really cool, and they have been featured in a few western style movies. 3:10 to Yuma featured a Colt Model 1855 revolving rifle, for example, complete with an old fashioned scope that's pretty much the same length as the barrel. There's a picture of it here:http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/3:10_to_Yuma_(2007) So, not realistic, but way cool for a cowboy playthrough. There's a Colt Army conversion here.
