Anyone up for a Sailing mod?

Hi Folks,

 

Another request, please see 1st person horse riding mod request for the other.

 

Please correct me if I'm wrong but Skyrim is a Vikingish type setting?

 

I'm a professional game designer/producer/scriptwriter who would like to create a mod with:

 

Sailing (1st P or 3rd P) by wind and tidal means, depth and other sailing factors involved but not anally tedious more fun sailing but with some thought involved.

 

Strong winds, waves, tides and storms play a big part on when a vogage can start (consult the weather oracle, use your own sailing knowledge (could be learnt through books. training, listening to NPC advice etc or rely on a crew member's advice?)

 

Navigation by the stars/charts/mechanical device/companion or other means

 

Discover new lands, creatures and native flora, fauna and indginus population.

 

Finding interesting flotsum and Jetsum (e.g. messages in bottles to new lands/treasure/mythical creatures; floating barrels with stuff in etc etc etc)

 

Naval combat (big crossbows on ships, hand to hand etc. etc)

 

Hit and run attacks on island communities ala Vikings.

 

An island base for you and your crew/soldiers

 

Piracy

 

etc.

I would be happy just being able to use the rowboats thats scattered throughout the game. I thought when i first saw one in Skyrim that you could use it unlike Oblivion... Buttt NOooOooo you still had to swim across the water when there is a perfectly good rowboat with oars right there. yes the player character must have some amount of retardation to make him oblivious to the obvious.

 

I wasn't surprised about the boats later when i was on a horse and discovered the horse did the same thing in Skyrim as it did in Oblivion when there was a random wolf encounter. yes it stood there getting bitten to death until you dismounted. Amateur hour at Bethesda like so many minor things.

I think there should be a naval quest line with new weapons [cutlasses,sabers,and rapiers] and have naval combat with boarding. It would allow you to sign up with the british,spanish,french,privateering,or pirates. You would have sea exploration, have cannon upgrades on ship, and purchase new ships. Even after the quest you could still explore the sea,islands, and ruins.

What I think would be fantastic is tying in such a mod with the 'Beyond Skyrim' series, allowing us to sail all the way around Tamriel, and IF Pyandonea and Akavir are created, include them. From there, not only would the various region world spaces have quests, but so would the oceans. And in tying them together, quests sending us to any of the other areas respectively (in a believable manner).
