Where to look for modding buddies

Hi guys. I've started creting new mod for F4. Since i'm a 3D modeller, i can do stuff like modelling,texturing,rigging etc... but i have just a little experience with CreationKit and scripting. It's supposed to be a bigger mod and i just don't wanna get stuck half a way on something scripting related. How do you guys grouping up to create mods? Is there any forum/thread for modders looking for buddies?

an excellent question.

it can be intimidating, with zugzwange of overchoice - its too many possibilities from a blank sheet of paper,

at first to start out with.

 

look no further hehe.

a lot of people start out by themselves and make a couple of code-fragments or mods,

I started making a "Lava Lamps more Lava-y" mod - it annoyed me for a long time since release that the FO4 Lava Lamps were not at all lava-y.

NMM's a place where modders with more "Mod Fu" will come by and help workshop that code in the FO4 Creation Kit and Modders thread etc.

it's like a 6Sigma Mod Fu Dojo hehe.

Thank you for all your advices montky. I'm planning to add new faction. I remember some old documentary about a cold war where they revealed it's possible that there were a secret groups of soviet soldiers all across the US, living as civilians, waiting for war to start creating chaos and doing sabotages in the cities. So my idea is to add soviet stuff (armors, items, buildings...etc) and make them fight against minutemen (you know, minutement wants to rebuild "good ol' murica" and soviets wants to turn all world "red").

 

So based on your advices, i'm just going to start creating all this stuff and will create WIP thread later, and will see if someone would like to join or not.

yeah, there was concept art for that kind of thing.

and a lot of fans of Fallout are fans of Metro or STALKER also.

 

it'd be neat to have a dedicated thread for stuff like PKD, PPSG, AK etc

a proper PSM and Tokarev, proper mosin-nagants, Vektor,

maybe even 'arsenal arms stryzhk struvehstoikha?" (very awesome joint Russian-Italian stuff)

alt-MIG or alt-Sukhoi, the sukhoi-coanda-flettner aircrafts

T-34s (still in 2077!)

items like Baked Milk, balalaika, Piroshki, gnocci (russian stuffed gnocci)

and Russian style settlement architecture!

 

maybe, some music also,

as the Scriabin, Rachmaninoff etc... through to more modern music (fallout modern anyways).

such as by "Gala Voices"

Above: they do many covers entirely in Ruski Cyrillic

they're self-described as an "Anti P$$Y-Riot"

ideally also eventually "language regionalizations', though we have to wait until after the NPC overhaul before we can do that moreso.

 

Stronglav had a couple of awesome ideas and collab ideas,

similarly themed with RUS-americans who fought the minutemen.

and Fixadent has made a few architectural musings hehe.

statues and locations.

 

maybe there is more than one faction?

ie, Red, White, Black, Colorless etc.

would those fight amongst themselves in the new land?

I love S.T.A.L.K.E.R and Metro series, but i thinks that to keep immersiveness of Fallout design it would be better to focus on stuff of older design (or modify a bit modern stuff tomatch the game design). I'm also thinking to create some quest lines (one of them should be to get a translator holotape). My idea is not to create old communism felling but to create feeling of soldiers trying to survive in hostile wasteland, far away from their motherland (music should help to create atmosphere). I've also seen some soviet themed mods, but all of them are just retexture mods and i'm not a very big fan of retexturing.

I've started creating armor already, where i've decided to create 4 types (based on old 6b3 armor). That's the hardest part, other stuff like items,buildings etc should be easier (due of simplicity of meshes) so i should be able to open WIP thread in 2 - 3 weeks.

I hope someone will join then, especially for importing items to the game :mellow:
