Fkemman11 Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 The best way I can describe this is that the framerate looks choppy and not smooth at all. I don't mean the frames per second, I mean the transition from one frame to the next. I have looked into some things to fix and found something about monitor refresh rate and response time, but I don't know how to adjust this. Is this the problem or is it something else with Skyrim?
forskyrimmods Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Which mods do you have installed? And how much VRam do you have? I have a similar experience when running out of VRam.
Fkemman11 Posted July 20, 2017 Author Posted July 20, 2017 What I am talking about has little to do with mods as it happens even when none are installed. There is something in V-sync settings that controls the GPU render to monitor refresh rate. With v-sync turned off for instance, the render rate is uncapped and can exceed the monitor refresh rate causing tearing while giving you the best fps. A video card that cannot render as fast as the refresh rate will give you stuttering. I am going to try adaptive settings with V-sync to see if it helps. I could be wrong as I am learning about this right now. But Nvidia control panel explains what every setting does and their effects. Edit; Solved my problem in ENB settings by turning "wait busy render" on. Apparently my cheap graphics card cannot render fast enough to keep up with monitor refresh rate. I guess having this on syncs the refresh rate with your render rate more or less. Hope this helps someone else.
