So what is the work around for Archive Invalidation thusfar?

I've attempted to get archive invalidation working using the newest Nexus manager, FOMM does not work on my computer for some reason and I can't even begin to restore functionality, and I've tried manually inserting files. Manually editing requires finding Sarchivelist, which does not exist in my directory. So I'm left asking what is the current workaround and why are there no stickies if none of the invalidation edits work? Does NMM need to be installed physically into the New Vegas directory to work, or what? Really irate not being able to find any information on this. D: FOOK works, everything works. Just the damn texture placement. The mesh works fine. lfjsflsakj

Sorry if I sound rude or anything, just desperate to fix it.

FOMM stopped working after I selected the directory for my mods. NMM was uninstalled, I did a fresh install on FOMM and it still gives me an error.

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

If I'm missing a key thread I just need a link to it, that's fine. I did everything I know how to do, seriously. =\ I'm not sure what a fonger is, however, 'lurk more' would have been snarky enough.

Neither of the managers are stable. Why is it terrible to ask what the current work around is if it isn't discussed in the beta category of the forum? Someone just specify that FOMM's invalidation WORKS. I'm going to get internet angry at you and cry.

FOMM's invalidation does work, so I've never tried enabling it in NXMM.

If you're using a version of Windows more recent than XP, you'll have to set the file permission settings for some folders before programs can write to them, including your New Vegas folder and the folders where FOMM and NXMM put their files.

The default for both is C:\Games, so create that folder yourself before running them. Right-click it and select "Properties," then look at the "Security" tab. In the screenshot below, my FOMM folder is named "FOMM."

Click the "Edit..." button and a new window opens where you set the permissions for each user group. In the screenshot, my computer is named "shadebot."

Click the user group named "yourcomputername\Users" and check box under "Allow" in the row labeled "Full control." This will automatically check the other boxes under "Allow."

Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the permissions window, and then the "OK" button in the properties window.

You'll want to perform the same process on your New Vegas folder so that FOMM has write access to it, or your entire Steam folder if you use NXMM for Skyrim or FO3 on Steam.

If your FOMM installation is just plain shot, delete the settings folder located at C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\FOMM and re-install it. The AppData folder is set to hidden by Windows, so you'll have to enable viewing hidden files in your folder options or type it into the address bar in Explorer.

You can do the same thing to reset your NXMM settings by deleting the Black_Tree_Gaming folder in AppData\Local.

The thing about Fonger was a joke. He's another tech-support forum regular, and he's known for promoting the disabling of User Account Control.

This is great, basic info that people like me need to have bookmarked for future reference. I don't have any of these problems, but I've run into them before. Hope this helps the OP.

Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate it. I thought you were being rude at first, honestly. Does NMM's archive invalidation tool work at all, or do I have to install FOMM? I'm also running Windows 7. I'll attempt the steps if I don't get a response about NMM. If I do get a response, then do I need to do very similar things to enable NMM's functionality or is it simpler? Since it's beta, I assume not simpler.

Oh, and UAC is a pain in itself. However, it's more popularly disabled in Vista and actually I believe I've taken steps to edit UAC due to a driver issue previously. Been too long for me to remember. Nvidia drivers are poop.

And yes I did think fonger was a noun. >.>;;
