Arneercool
Is it just me or does every single mod that alters settlements, restores buildings in settlements, give new roofs, flatten and so, all, and i mean ALL, introduce some kind of microstutter. Not lag, just a minuscule stutter going off every 10 seconds. Or am i being weird?, again. At this point i feel like i have tried absolutely everything to make it go away, to a point where i begin to think that i might be imagining the problem. I have tried these mods in every imaginable configuration and combination, no dice. I can run the game in 2k with a lot of trees, grass, perfectly fine, but even when i turn everything vanilla the stutter persists. I might be going insane... dark47
No, you're not going insane (at least not alone, He, he). I notice the same thing. I need to avoid mods that alter terrrain and buildings or my game gets funky. I can't even use Subway Runner be cause it messes with my game. I'm not a modder or programmer, so I have no idea why. Something to do with "precombined meshes" perhaps, I don't know. With my PC, I have to pick and choose mods perhaps a bit more carefully than most with all Bethesda games, just to keep them running smoothly. A lot of trial and error, but I've gotten used to it over the years. If I didn't enjoy these games so much, I won't bother with it. I've also noticed that what works for most doesn't always work for me , and the opposite is also true. I usually just have to try a mod and see what happens. Sorry if I'm not much help, but you are NOT going insane, He, he.
MissingMeshTV
I've noticed that the vast majority of settlement modification and/or cleanup mods only have an .esp file, meaning they don't regenerate the previs/precombines that are disabled by the edits to the cell. Not to say that is contributing to what you've described but something to consider as a possibility. Even if a mod does regenerate previs/precombines that data isn't as optimised as the vanilla data (such as it is) so there might be something there as well. That being said, I have a few settlement rebuilds I've made for myself in the CK with the precombine data regenerated. I haven't noticed any such stutter. Anecdotal I know, but maybe worth mentioning. Trosski has a really well done settlement cleanup mod that regenerates previs/precombines...it removes trash and debris from Commonwealth settlements. Might be worth you testing it and see if you have the same issue. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16175/? EDIT: if you haven't done so already, you might take a look at the comment sections of the mods you are experiencing this with...maybe someone has reported something similar. I tried those mods a little while ago, and while they function as advertised, and very well i might ad, i went with a "invisible" replacer for the ugliest trash. That way i don't even have to clean anything or mess with ze pre-combined in the first place. I simply don't go anywhere near those edits, and my life is all the better for it.
