Creepy Tales In Skyrim?

Does anyone reading this remember the old Myths and Legends from classics such as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas? Myths as huge as Bigfoot? Legends as spooky as serial killers in the woods? References as awesome as the chainsaw scene from Scarface in Vice City (I think)?

Well, what kind of ghost-stories and campfire tales do we have for Skyrim? I'm very interested in knowing. I want to hear about the Numbers Station (Fallout 3) and Lone Wolf Radio (Fallout NV) equivalents in Skyrim - if any exist.

Turn on Frostfall, iNeed, Campfire and a few ENB's to make the world of Skyrim darker and improve sound effects.

Head north past Winterhold to the ice shelves at night.

Listen to the ice shift all around you, whilst howls of ice wolves, trolls and wraiths can be heard approaching...

I don't know about actual "myths" and "legends" in the Elder Scrolls universe but ShoddyCast made a really good Lore series which had a spooky feel to it. Especially later on in the series when they switch storytellers (no offense to the original storyteller). I highly recommend it for those interested.

I've heard about a creepy pasta for Skyrim named jvk1666.esm or something like that, being based on a creepy pasta of almost the same name for Morrowind that heavily modifies Whiterun into an area void of life with exception to Balgruuf (on the Breton day of the dead), Heimskr, and some dark child-size humanoid who chases you around (?). Surely such a file could exist, but it's unlikely.

I would probably do this, but I can barely run Skyrim at constant levels as it is, let alone with an ENB (which I don't like the idea of installing. I saw the files for ENBoost, do you really have to dump a load of files into the Skyrim directory? I don't like having an unclean directory, that's best cleaned by a FULL reinstall..)

There's this Youtuber named DarkCorners that focuses on this type of video in games such as GTA V and Minecraft (mainly MC). Perhaps he could start a Skyrim series, if there's enough creepy content. Honestly the only thing I can think of that might catch a player off guard is the Headless Horseman, but it's proven to be in the game (I think) and well explained away (Ragnar The Red). I want something like Bigfoot in SA, something unproven but there's a community dedicated to finding it, the thrill of finding a clue or staying in a location throughout a full night with a torch and your wits, headphones on in a dark room, at 3 AM in the morning (the true DarkCorners method). Maybe we should turn to the modding community to create something like this, such as in the creepy pasta I mentioned earlier, or message some prominent Youtubers and Forum-goers and see what they can find (or manufacture).

Now that I think about it, it probably doesn't help the creepy-factor that the playable character in Skyrim is basically a demigod. The creepy-factor for these things in GTA V and Minecraft are there because there's nothing truly special about the character, they don't have special abilities or anything that makes them badass warriors like in Skyrim.

is there a way give the feeling of true urgency to any player of Skyrim? The feeling of "I need to fix the problem soon or get out of here?" That would be useful if someone were to make a mod with a scary boss, that screams and spawns minions in an area that constantly drains your health and fills you with dread (the dread being more prominent than the "scariness" of the screams, because jumpscares are just trash). I suppose something like that could suffice. Maybe the player installs the mod on their game and it activates at a random point in time and gives NO WARNING. Suddenly, people around the world start dying off one by one - eventually swallowing entire towns if you don't stop it soon enough. Maybe even essential characters. Then you have to kill this dreadful boss who's extremely tough (not quite as tough as Karstaag maybe but still extremely difficult) giving the player a dilemma - reload the game over and over and hope you get lucky, or spend time leveling up your stats and grinding for potions and weapons while people in the world die off one by one.

OMG this is an amazing idea in my head I love it. I'm thinking that the game adds a new NPC that walks up to you, gives you a note and clips through the world or something that either tells you the location of the boss or gives it to you with an encryption that you have to figure out. Once you do you make your way there and the boss is screaming away and spawning minions (maybe like Spider Daedra from Oblivion) while you have to go through this dungeon and get three orbs or something and return them to a pedestal before the magical barrier (like from the College of Winterhold questline) is removed and you can FINALLY attack the boss.

I don't believe this is possible (at least to any normal modder), but i think that there could be an extreme version of the mod that, if you don't kill the boss fast enough (say, literally everyone in the game is dead), then it actually releases a virus onto your computer that starts deleting random files. Like, as soon as the new NPC walks up to you and hands you the note, you have a time limit that you must kill the final boss in.

That probably wouldn't work, because the player could literally use console commands, but it was a great idea for a while. Unless there's a way to prevent the usage of console commands... Now I just feel like an evil scientist trying to find ways to torture people > : )
