FO4 Can My PC Play It

I don't know if this is the right place to post but I need to know if I can even play the game "FO4" with my current PC.

Here are my specs

Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0 GHz Processor

8gb Memory

Win7 Pro 64bit

500gb hardrive

2gb nVidia Video Card

My question is will it work with only a Dual Core.

the Mininuim requirements are listed as

Minimum
*Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
*Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz or equivalent
*8 GB RAM
*30 GB free HDD space
*NVIDIA GTX 550 Ti 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or equivalent

So I need to know if it really requires that fast of a Processer or will it actually work with a lesser one. I just bought my video card and like can't afford to upgrade my processor at the moment.

Yes, it will work, but Boston will slaughter your FPS but even the best PCs can't stand it. A good processor is key for good FPS. Also a SSD is suggested, it makes the game run much better,

That is Great, Thank you.

I just got my hands on two new 2gb NVIDIA PCIE Video Cards next time I'll spend on Processer and the SSD thing "I don't yet know what it is", but there is the cost of the Game too, as I'm considering geting the Season Pass "The Whole Enchilada".

I was looking at what a i5-2300 series processor is and one in picticular the 2390t is only 2 cores so dual core is likely the bare mininuim or a "equivalent" processor.

I had to get it for my brother too and we have the same Base PC's plus we both have to have our own seperate copy's of the game.. 100 dollars plus 2 video cards 200 dollars.. Luckily he pays for his half. lol

until you upgrade your CPU, keep shadow settings to the minimum.

avoid all mods that add HD textures (especially the HD DLC) as these will kill your performance.

cap your frame rate at 30 fps to get smoother gameplay.

avoid any mod that requires you to add the line bUseCominedObjects=0 to your fallout4.ini as this will destroy your frame rate in built up areas.

in general, large overhaul mods are likely to make your game stutter or lag at times.

@ Dumbbus,

I do have the Nvidia 1070 8gb, 16gb RAM, i7-6700 and 1TB SSD, 80 mods only ( no texture / graphics mods at all ) and my game video options are : 2560x1440, AA = off, AO = off, Motion Blur = off and Godrays = low .... and still in some areas ( city and others ) fps drops ( sometimes 25-30 ) .... in light areas, I am getting 60 fps and most of the time my fps are steady at that number but as soon as I get into certain areas and the city, I suffer fps drops.

... as far as I know, the minimum video ram required are 4gb ... I think that you can play this game but I am pretty sure that if you download / install mods, you will have too many CTD's that you won't be able to play. Even if you do not install any texture/graphics mods, still your rig is not that powerful to sustain the stress ...

... If I was you, I would try to play the game without any mod ... go to the city and see how many fps are you getting and have an idea how your rig will behave as soon as you start installing some mods.

As ZZyxzz said, even the best computer cannot stand this game ... it is very demanding and if you add mods, your rig will be over stressed to the point of constants CTD's.

Good luck and I hope that you can play it but that will depend on your video game setup and how many mods ( type of mods ) you install. For sure, if you install texture/graphics that apply globally to the entire game, I am pretty sure that you won't be able to play without having several and too often CTD's, or severe fps drops and stuttering.

The game isn't demanding at all. Its in the worst case scenario the engine struggling to work correctly with too much s#*! happening in the screen.

These are my PC specs:

i3 3240

6gb ram ddr3 1333mhz

GTX 1050 2gb SC (EVGA)

Running the game on an 240gb ssd.

I have the exact same issues you said, my fps drops from 50~60 to 25~30 on certain areas, almost everything on ultra. The same happens on skyrim btw, not sure about the special edition. So, it's either an issue with your computer or an issue with the game/engine optimization, otherwise you would be able to run it at 60fps always. Calling a game demanding because it doesn't run as it should is not correct at all.

And 2gbs of vram are enough for 1080p gaming (not optimal, but enough), just need to lower the render distance if you experience too much stuttering in some areas.

Your CPU will indeed struggle in certain areas. It's not impossible to play with it, but get ready for stuttering. Btw, far as i know the game doesn't deal well with SLI if you are planning to do that. I'm assuming you are not worried with your gpu at all, but let me tell you in advance, a 750ti is not enough to run it on medium in 1080p with 60fps, in the "non-f*#@ed-up" areas of course, so if you have a 550ti, i dunno how much you will suffer. (I can be wrong about that, but it will for sure not work really good)

Anyway, Steam have a wonderful feature called refund, you buy the game, you play less than two hours, and refund within 7 days if you don't like it, or it doesn't run well on your computer, or for any reason actually.

When I said "demanding", I was talking about the game engine ... it is my bad because I did not properly explained myself ....

... as I said, the OP can try to play the game but I really doubt it that he will have a good time since I am pretty sure that he will experiment a lot of stuttering and CTD's ... no one of us want to play a game under those circumstances, right ? I would not at all !!

@ OP ... you can test your rig yourself ... give it a try without any mod first and see what happens .. otherwise, ask for your money back. I think that Steam refund policy is to give you a full refund after within 2 hours playing .. in less that 2 hours you should be in the city and test your rig and go from there ....

cheers
