wishbone346
As the title says. I keep getting a "Lookup Failed" message when entering a loading screen. Is there any sort of fix for this? I've already tried verifying cache and then reinstalling all my mods. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
audiodef
I get this now and then, too. I wouldn't worry about it. It doesn't affect the game in any way. If anything, it's a source of minor amusement for screenshots if the right combo of rotating image and LOOKUP FAILED comes along.
steve40
It means you have the wrong strings file installed, maybe from an interface mod that needs updating. Delete your strings files then reverify your Steam cache.
damanding
Thank you for that answer Steve40, I've wondered this myself for a long time now.

However, if you have any interface mods that adds its own loose strings files in data\strings, deleting those files, or replacing them with updated versions should fix your issue. MightyZ0G
it could be a mod that adds a loading screen that has the missing string.if you had a mod like Beantown Interiors* with the load screen enabled and deleted the strings folder, that would give that error. *only used as an example, other mods add load screens
audiodef
Actually, because of my work on a loading screen mod, I have discovered that "LOOKUP FAILED" is an actual loading screen. This actual text is part of Fallout4.esm in the loading screen section. I suspect this was done intentionally to add a bit of whimsy, as if you're using a pre-war technology that is a little corrupted due to wear and tear. So there is nothing wrong with your game and there is nothing to fix. :-) P.S. My loading screen mod actually replaces LOOKUP FAILED with a short rant about how miserably it failed. :-P Edited May 24, 2018 by audiodef
