Game crashes whenever I exit out of a message.

For example, whenever I press E to exit out of DLC intro messages (I've gotten around this using Passive Startup Messages) or to exit out of a reputation change textbox, my entire computer crashes.

Here is my load order:

I've got the 4GB patch as well as NVSE and MCM. I am running a ENB made for Nevada Skies as well. I also have sorted my load order with LOOT. I've been trying to figure this out for a week now to no avail. If someone more knowledgeable than me could look at my load order and maybe offer a few suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

First step is to move your two inactive "Nevada Skies" plugins out of your "Data" folder. Even though marked as "inactive" the game engine still loads them to check if they are needed by other plugins, and this can cause problems.

Then suggest you see the 'Essentials for Getting Started', 'Towards Game Stability', 'Third Rule: The Rule of One', and 'Merge Patch file' sections of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article.

Thank you for the information, I"ll make sure to read up on the sections mentioned. I've successfully moved the inactive Nevada Skies plugins. They do not appear in my plugins tab anymore.

However, I've just run the game and went through the same instant crash. I save the woman being attacked by geckos during the training missions with Sunny Smiles and I as soon as I accept the reputation change for Goodsprings from Neutral to Accepted my entire system crashes and it auto reboots.

I'm wondering if this is a memory issue now. I have a few heavy graphical mods running as you can see. I do have 32 GB of RAM so my system isn't the issue. I've run the 4GB patch a few times but I'm not sure if it is actually properly running.

edit: weird... I've set my quality to Low just to see what would happen and the game didn't instant crash. It must be a memory issue then?

edit 2: lowering the Quality seems to be a temporary fix. I was able to fast travel back to Goodsprings and speak with Trudy. Once I exited the conversation my system crashed again. It must be a memory issue then.

Playing a modded game is like building a house. You have to start from a strong foundation before adding walls and a roof. If you don't do things in the correct order, you have a weak, wobbly structure. If you are crashing at the beginning of the game (i.e. before leaving Goodsprings), you do not have a strong foundation. Read that article.

As for your potential memory issue: Please see the 'Solutions to "Crash To Desktop" (CTD) problems' entry in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide.

While I appreciate the house metaphor this mod build is based on graphical mod profiles that many people have subscribed to in the past and have not gotten any issue with. When I disable my ENB present by moving the dll folder or simply pressing Shift+F12 my performance increases substantially and the crashes stop. I am going to try a less intensive ENB and see if that helps.

There is no one stable mod load order size that fits all. It is specific to your system configuration.

There are rules of thumb though ... which is what dubious was suggesting.

The amount of people that come here expecting mind reading is ... ridiculous .
