Good Mod Lists?

Let me start by saying that I vastly prefer Fallout 1 and Fallout New Vegas over the rest of the games in the series. The older Fallouts were great, and New Vegas did the originals some justice, unlike Fallout 3. That being said, at this point I'll take even reoccurring stuff from Fallout 3. Let me explain:

I want to play this game again, but my memory of the game makes me feel sick, and I'd rather just continue my replaythrough of Skyrim or Oblivion for the Nth time. There were huge things from Fallout 3 and NV that are just missing from 4, including Traits (missing from 3) and Skills and a good dialogue system and all that. So, does anyone have an answer to my cries. Has anyone compiled a list of mods that brings back some of the good aspects from 3 and NV, or maybe even the older ones 1 and 2?

Have you found any singular mods that you have and play with and enjoy that bring back some aspect to Fallout 4 that was missing? I'd love to know.

First, you have to realize that FO4 is somewhat of a departure from other Fallouts in the series. It is geared more towards being an open world, post- apocalyptic shooter with some settlement building thrown in. It is extremely weak in character building and story in comparison to any more rpg driven game. But the combat, world exploration, and settlement building help make up for this. So with that in mind, the mods I would suggest to beef up some story elements would be; Atomic Radio and Tales From the Commonwealth, Fusion City Rising, Outcasts and Remnants, Ransacked Relays and Shuddersome Subways, Penn's Woods, Maxwell's World, Quest- Prelude to Vault 273. These are some that I use in my game to make things more interesting. I also ramp up the difficulty quite a bit to make it more challenging. More Better Companion's is one I used and liked for the vanilla followers. Heather is almost an essential follower for me. The new FourPlay framework and mods on LL works surprisingly well if you would like to spice things up.

There will be more and better mods for FO4 in the months to come, you will just need to do some digging to find what suites you best. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I was trying to get a pristine Fallout experience with the added bonus of the amazing gameplay elements that Fallout 4 is only good at, and I found a few that really help. Mods that change the dialogue back to the Fallout 3/NV style, potentially a mod that adds skills back to the game, and revamps the perk system, etc. I tried to create a mod that would remove the yellow, orange, and red colors from dialogue to give the player a Fallout 1 vibe (because in that game you couldn't tell if you had a speech option, also mods like this existed in FO3 and NV but I can't find them here). I tried removing quest markers by editing the FalloutPrefs.ini file I think, and I don't remember if that worked.

Eventually I installed a bunch of new mods and the game kept crashing or not working properly, and I got frustrated with it because I was fiddling with a game I already didn't like for so long and wasting my time. I actually completely uninstalled it. If I ever come back to it, I'll probably just uninstall most of the mods I have, see if that works properly, and then start installing more mods - starting with your suggestions.

(Although they aren't lore-friendly, I do love the Black vaultsuit and Black Pip-boy mods)
