SluggoV2
I have a couple questions about using CK and Nifskope. I have created two armor retextures that I would like to make standalone. The will use the vanilla meshes. I have dropped them into my data folder and everything looks great, but I don't want to replace the default textures for all the armor in the game. A. Do the files need to be in my Data folder before redirecting to the "new" texture using nifskope? or can I just have the file on my desktop? wasn't sure if this matters or not. B. Do I need to repath the textures on the xxxxx_go.nif, or just the main nifs eg. xxxxx_0.nif, xxxxx_1.nif, xxxxxf_0.nif, xxxxxf_1.nif, etc. ( I realize that I would do the same for beast races too) C. Do I need to recreate the xxxxxAA file in CK and import that to nifskope too? I appreciate any info that I can get. Thanks.
stabbykitteh
A. No, but you need to make sure that the path is not drive specific. example: textures\clothes\santasuit\santasuit.dds is good.steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\data\textures\clothes etc won't work for anyone but you :) B. The go.nif is the ground model, so if you want everything to match, be visually identifiable in inventory or just look good when dropped, yes. C. Not as far as I know. SluggoV2
OK, thanks one other question how/where do you control the way the preview image comes up in your inventory/smithing menu?
ghosu
Weapons use the 1stpersonXXX.nif when equipped and the XXX.nif is displayed in inventory/forge.Armor ... check out the CK entry for a piece like ArmorDaedricHelmet - there is an entry for a World Object that points to a DaedricHelmetGO.nif and contains a "bigger" version of the helmet without bones - this should be the preview model. greetings
SluggoV2
When I import the textures into Nifskope the textures show up fine, but if I alter the path and delete g:\games\steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\data\ from the path, they no longer show up. So how do I create a path that will work as an exportable plugin?
ghosu
They just don't show up in NifSkope but it works ingame.

JDFan
When I import the textures into Nifskope the textures show up fine, but if I alter the path and delete g:\games\steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\data\ from the path, they no longer show up. So how do I create a path that will work as an exportable plugin? You need to set the game path in Nifskope -- go to the top bar and find the Render tab and click - at the bottom select Settings - open the Rendering Tab - Click add folder - Middle of the box Click on Folder and navigate to your Skyrim\Data Folder -- (Not Texture but Data) once there press select folder Now when you use the purple flower to naviagate to a texture it will properly set the path as Textures\xxx and the render window will have the textures applied !
