I keep getting this when I reinstalled my skyrim

MASTERFILE: LOCALIZATION: Lookup failed for ID: 0x00012584 from strings file: Strings/Skyrim_English.dlSTRINGS!

would deleting the skyrim.esm maybe fix the issue and the strings as well being the kit says masterfile so I am guessing its in the skyrim.esm

Deleting would not help, unless it forced Steam to "verify" or "resync". That file is in your Skyrim\Data\Strings folder. There is some kind of "verify folder" or "verify game" in Steam somewhere that should get you back on track.

No, you have to do another thing instead, and much more annoying, you have to remove all mods, and then reinstall them, I got the same problem and by doing that I got rid of the warnings, and now it works again just wonder for how long but thats another issue :ermm:

@verrik, hi, just something you could try assuming that error might be coming from issues with the Creation Kit,

try a fix by editing your SkyrimEditor.ini adding:

[General]

sLanguage=ENGLISH

(or whatever your default language should be)

hopefully this might stop issues with localization lookups; but, i have a feeling this kind of fix only helps the CK and not Skyrim.

Check for variable 'sLanguage=ENGLISH' which should also exist in your skyrim.ini under [General].

got curious and tried a console search using 'help 00012584' and a few variations but didn't find anything lol.

a few internet searches revealed many other people getting the same error which were mostly Creation Kit or non-English related.

this issue might not have been acknowledged by Bethesda, did not spot any quick fixes sorry.

wonder if its possible your skyrim.esm file got corrupted?

check your load order (plugins.txt) and make sure skyrim.esm is loaded last.

have you tried launching skyrim as a local admin?

i have a feeling you're probably dealing with a failed Steam install/update or maybe mods that don't like the v1.6 patch..

if its a failed steam install/update check to be sure you actually have a skyrim.esm file and if you're running NMM (Nexus Mod Mgr)

make sure NMM didn't delete your plugins.txt file.

when you 'reinstalled' skyrim, did you completely backup/remove all traces of the previous install folders?
