I was going to make an addon....but then I took an arrow in the knee

Noone is arguing whether it is or isn't a real thing though. Clearly is is a scientifically proven mental state.

If he was mocking depression or depressed people in any way I would understand.

*sigh*

I already said he didn't offend me by saying it.

I simply asked that he use a weaker word to avoid the stigma that it's fake.

I'm sorry if that caused confusion.

This whole thread is depressing me. Maybe I can use that as an excuse to not work any more. :rolleyes:

The war begins now!

...

Unless you're serious. That would be less humorous and more likely to end with a rant.

You shouldn't really be partaking in forum conversations if this is all it takes to set you off.

Reading back the OP's first line. Where in that does it in any way imply that depression is fake??

e.g. If I say I'm starving, or I'm dying of thirst. Clearly I'm not actually dying. I can get a drink and some food any time I want so am I now implying that starvation and dehydration are fake too? That because I'm not really, then it must be a made up term

Depression is an extreme version of sadness. He was overstating for literary effect which we all do all the time.

I've said my piece, this is ridiculous. I'm out!

No I was not serious but this whole thing is really getting blown way out of proportion. People use exaggerating terms all the time like, "I'm starving to death" and "I used to be an adventurer like you till I took an arrow to the knee". (Seriously, not all these guards could have possibly taken an arrow to the knee). Lighten up. Saying "I'm depressed" when you mean you are just disappointed is just how people tend to exaggerate. You are taking things way too seriously. :biggrin:

Meh. I think we're done here. I've explained multiple times that I wasn't personally offended by the OP and that I'm simply worried about the effect of the comment on others.

@worldofscotty

See? This is what I'm talking about. I told you all this would happen. Now you're saying that depression is the same as being very sad. Depression isn't just extreme sadness. It's the effect of serotonin being... oh whatever. I give up. Call it sadness then.

@staind

It probably sounds like an obvious joke to anyone else, but you wouldn't believe the number of times I've heard somebody say something just like that and be totally serious about it.

I have no problem believing that. People in general are morons. Just my honest opinion. Unfortunately, stupid people are still allowed to breed so we have to deal with them.

No hard feelings? I think this post has moved far enough away from the original topic, lol.

I can only imagine what the OP must be thinking right now...
