Iapetus
My disappointment at the buyable houses is what made me start. I'd shell out some 2000 septims for some [family friendly post]-ing shack in the worst part of the Imperial City.Ripoff.So, I made myself a house. Then, I had to reinstall, so I went ahead and made a different one. Then, I made another. And another. Then I made on, and actually uploaded it here. Then, I got tired of that one, and made another... about two months ago... that I am still tweaking... wizardmirth
I got Oblivion for my new rig about a year ago and started learning about and installing mods almost immediately, including OBMM use. Not long after that I DLed the CS, poked around it briefly and felt disheartened that it was going to take too much time to learn everything I wanted to know. So several months and many characters later (none of which I even completed the main quest with!), using whatever free time I could find I began to learn modding bit by bit starting simple and getting more progressive as I went. It was a combination of wanting to create my own quests and better control installation of (and in some cases manipulate) the mods I used.
Gamerbird
I first started modding after I downloaded some mods from TesNexus and it just started from there. I had a lot of trouble to begin with (didn't work at first so I got annoyed. Smashed a few things up though whiich is always fun!!) but then I started to learn and got rid of the things in Oblivion that annoyed me the most first and expanded from that. Eventually my friend asked if he could host them on his site and I agreed.
