QuantumCoretex
* I'd rename this a slight system change to legendaries if anything* -Note: I don't know if this idea has already been suggested and or implemented into a mod. -Pitch(skipable) Alright, what makes a weapon legendary? This is probably debatable but It's legend (no s*** right?). For a weapon to posses a legend it needs to gain fame and infamy, typically through the act of killing. -Idea Stop legendaries weapons from dropping from legendary creatures and replace them with either a consumable (a heart perhaps?) that will give the legendary effect or as this would take a lot of scripting (least to me it seems like it would) allow another button input option while standing over the creatures corpse to bath the weapon in the creatures blood (perhaps it would be more fitting in a Elderscrolls setting?) -Perhaps another time This idea would probably be a hassle but allow counters to count the creatures killed (wait Fallout New Vegas already had counters, but does fallout 4?) Welp, see if the counters have subcategories telling what was killed (doesn't have to be exact such as animals, ghouls, abominations, etc). Once a weapon has killed a certain number of them allow it to gain a legendary effect (this would make it a true legendary item as it has infamy and perhaps fame as well). The original idea was that, you could make your own legend in a way, least a weapon that reflexs your adventures and isn't someone else's legacy. Of course the aspect of having legendary items from dead adventurers should not be forgotten. Also another idea was an infamy system based off your attire or signature weapon, say you became a murder or a legendary hero that never gave a name nor showed his face. (or did and was still associated with those items). *Notice* I know I used the word immersion and I get that technically having weapons with legendary effects kills immersion pending, how you define immersive in fallout. (Although I do fell like it would fit into an Elder scrolls setting as I previously said). Edited August 24, 2017 by QuantumCoretex
pra
Hmm, I was thinking about that as well a lot. I think this should also be separated by creature type. And not only the weapon/armor, but also this "mutation" effect. Maybe like this:- Raiders and other human hostiles have just the item and use it. They do not "mutate" (it's goddamn ridiculous that they do right now), they just die as usual. Maybe just make them slightly stronger.- Creatures do not drop legendary items, period. Instead, they drop something else.*- Living creatures could still "mutate", but not robots. Explain it as a special effect of the FEV. * The "something else" should allow you to craft your own legendary modifications. In the simplest case, it would be something like "Legendary Parts" from the mod Love To Craft Legendary. But, it would be even better if it would be something depending on the enemy. For example, robots drop certain parts of hardware. Like a "eletrocution module", dropped by medial protectrons, which you can use to build the "electrified" effect. jdkzombie
At first read, I thought this thread was gonna be about changing legendary item affixes around to actually be useful. Furious seems to be my affix of choice on auto weapons. Striker is great on semi auto weapons. Have never used many on the others, save for an explosive minigun that was beyond epic. As far as the OP goes, I think your thinking of a leveling system for certain affixes? Say you kill ghouls primarily with a shotgun, kill so many and it unlocks the Ghoul Slayer perk? That sounds cool, but lots of changes would be needed for other affixes, like critical hits having an innate chance to cause frenzy, so that if you do it enough, you unlock the perk for it. How to work the explosive rounds? Penetration could be tied in to snipers when hitting enemies though things in VATS? Plasma legendary affix which gooifies enemies would probably be restricted to plasma weapons, as idk how a kinetic bullet would goo someone. Definitely be a major overhaul to affixes that way. Could be interesting. I'd try it.

Could be interesting. I'd try it. (spelling and gramer is not the best sry before hand ) It does sounds good with the idea of hidden perks when mowing down feral ghouls. when it comes to things like this. i found the hole perk layout to be very poorly written while having very poor awarding system in the game. I been playing with the a mod to in-cress the setting to in-cress these legendary type of enemy's to spawn only because it makes things harder. i honest to god wish they made the legendary system far more rewarding in making it harder to really fight. i dont mean magically making them stronger when they are just humans. robots kind of, (or w/e) what i mean is allowing some bots to enhance there self's to get stronger in order to defeat you. i wish there was a way to make said legendary type enemy's use the better effect gun while giving them armor with effect also so they felt really like a sub-boss/ mini boss or a full boss when it comes down to named leader npcs (or by area or unit).. back to the main comment. i like and love the idea of enhanced weapons like in fallout. but way i see it they should of made it not with a said magic effect. they should of done it more like add-ons you find on the gun while u could also find said add on with guns. The hole legendary aspect i find could of been done like dead iland, dying light (best of the 3) i liked the idea od modding the weapon to give them the little jump. its like how someone would make explosive ammo for the shot. tho the biggest thing i find about this system is there no degrading system to really anything. i dont mean the horrid degrading system they had in DL or there other games make if feel more natural

(not just the pitch was deleted). In essence, yes, I would want a leveling system (although I'd name it an infamy system). This is mostly because i just watched the Berserk anime and it got me thinking about legendary items in general. I know Fallout New Vegas had counters for specific enemies killed, I however do not know if Fallout 4 has ones as well. The original idea was you could make your own legend in away, least a weapon that reflexs your adventures and isn't someone else's legacy.
