ferogain
On a PC, what is the max number of mods you can have active? Every time I add a new one now, and load up a saved game, it says several mods are "missing". So I was curious if this was odd behavior due to having too many. RangerDulann
Rabbit1251
255 is the hard limit not counting texture mods. You can get around this by merging like mods together. Take note that although 255 is the limit your game might exhibit strange behavior before reaching that limit depending on your machine setup. wim95
255 - 6 DLC (or - 7 DLC) = 249 (or 248) esm, esp If it is absolutely exact 256 - Fallout4.esm - 6 DLC (or - 7 DLC) = 249 (or 248) esm, esp Edit You asked about active mods: 111 (include Fallout4.esm, 6 DLC). Nothing "missing" Edited August 18, 2017 by wim95

ferogain
DANGIT!! LOOT is reporting 255 active! Well, I guess I need to start "The Great Mod Culling of 2017". Thanks all.
Tilarium
Also bearing in mind that with the new file type, this is going to be changing soon. .esl (I believe that's what it's called) extension was added to the GECK in the latest patch and will allow for a lot more mods then the current 255 limit. Of course, it might be a while before people start putting out new mods with it or start converting existing mods over to the new format.
ferogain
Quick question, is the 255 a NMM thing or a Beth thing? If I install manually, can I go beyond the 255?
RangerDulann
Beth thingieIts a hexidecimal limit. Fallout 4.esm is 00 the 255th is FF. The mod list only accepts hexidecimal values up to 2 digits.
