Fkemman11
Wouldn't you like to wear any hat with any modded hair- with no clipping? That is what I would like to do. So I have looked at hats, helmets and hair and see that Beth has separated the the vanilla hairs into parts. So when you put on a baseball hat for instance, the top part of the hair disappears. How is this done exactly? None of the hair mods available work this way. Wouldn't it be fairly easy to copy?
RangerDulann
Modded hair also works this way. Though looks like sh*t. Azar ponytail hairstyles. Top hat with hair top slot: As a headband:
Fkemman11
If you check the top of the head when using vanilla hair and put on a hat- the top part of the hair above the hat line is gone. What you are showing is modded hair where the top does not disappear when wearing hats. Beth did this to avoid any clipping and it looks like it can be copied but I just can't figure out how it is done. AE has hats with hair too, but when you use anything but vanilla hair it clips through the hat mesh. There is something in the game that activates the top part of the hair mesh when you put on a hat. That is what I am trying to figure out.

RangerDulann
I compared some hairs, the vanilla seem to use 3 pieces of hair and 1 head part.So I guess some of the 3 parts are hidden when wearing hats etc. ?

Yeah. How do you think that is done though? Edit: Got the info- by dividing the meshes of the hair and assigning the top hair part to hair top they made it a separate mesh that is replaced by the hat mesh when you put it on. I asked JTesmer about it and she/he said that it can be applied to modded hair, but it would require more work than they wanted to do and it would make some hairs look bad. It sounds pretty simple to me though- except for the weighting part. Now the question would be how to separate a mesh into two parts and how to reapply it back into the game. JonathanOstrus
If you look at the vanilla records again you'll notice that all the "Extra Parts" are hairline. Which is what you see when the top hair is removed by wearing a hat. To the right on the head part window for the main hairstyle choice you'll see a model path. That's the full hair that is displayed when not wearing said hat. There are some styles, like HairFemale15 "Agent X" which cause the character to be bald under the hat because it has no extra parts for the hairline. It's also worth noting that the hairline parts that show up under hats are typed as misc and not hair. It's been awhile since I used azar's hair but I think I remember them working the same as vanilla in regards to the top hair being removed by hats and still having the proper hairline. Or am I looking at the whole thing wrong?
