Bigger skyrim

I do consider an alternative proposal for Skyrim's size than a near equal to 48 United States (excluding Alaska, Hawaii, and unincorporated territories). I did a bit of an experiment and I found that skyrim seems to be consistent in shape to three notable entities.

Germany + Poland + The Austrian Empire or Austro-Hungarian Empire. I think that corresponds well with the Ancient Germanic lands excluding Scandinavia that Germanic people had settled into (excludes the Franks and derived France, Visigoth, Ostrogoth, and Vandal territories).

guys... in in-game time it is actually like a day from a city to another... what you ask is TOO much of realism and for that time should be adjusted to real time (1 minute = 1 real minute, not 3 seconds) which would make the game almost unplayable... ok realism is nice but... the thing is to have fun with the game, not make it ultra realistic. for me it may be 2 minutes to go from a city to another, but for my character it is actually 1 day due to the in-game time mechanism. Still it isn't a bad idea, it's just something that would 'cause many gameplay problems in my opinion...

Nah we just prefer five minutes is equal to one minute in real life. Thus making mods that require you to eat to be less annoying. And to retrospect the size of Skyrim not only to fit that regard, but to also be contigent to the actual size of Skyrim it self. Look Hampton Roads, Virginia is not suppose to be the same size as Skyrim. When you have a small retropolitan area that is about 1/20th the size of the state of Virginia to be the same size as this huge expanse of territory, then you have something wrong. By the way, it should be more than a day to travel from one city to the next, because otherwise in terms of medieval European times, those cities are too close to each other. Heck... I know the Netherlands (strictly European part) is larger than Skyrim. It takes more than a day of walking to get from Amsterdam to the next city outside of Amsterdam's metropolitan area.

Since Bethesda has announced that no more planned DLC can be seen in the future, we can assume that Skyrim has reached its stable state. That is, if a "bigger Skyrim" mod is made now, it won't get involved in compatibility issues with future DLC. There's always a silver lining in everything, I suppose.

Most of their DLC tend to suck anyway. The only DLC people really wanted was the use of more varieties of weapons like how Spears should truly be used and hold variety like swords and axes with its own area of perks in one-handed and two-handed perk trees. Then also have throwing weapons truly immersed into the game. This is what they should had done, but instead of all of that, they said... you know lets put this on a freeze for a bit with an online game coming out then... we should state plans for a new Elder Scrolls game, so we can annoy people silly.

Honestly, if this keeps happening. I won't argue against government take over of each game company solely for the interest of making good quality games rather than s#*!. I mean this is ridiculous. This makes the public sector look way better than the private sector.

The problem i see with this mod is the compatability with practically any other mod that adds anything in the world space of Skyrim. There would have to be ALOT of patches to get this mod to work with any other mod. Also another thing is (if Skyrim modding is similar to New Vegas) you would prabably have to re-nav mesh alot of areas in skyrim itself. I wish this would be made because another one of my many gripes with skyrim was how small it was comparatively to say the size of England/Scotland. Ireland may be even bigger than skyrim honestly.

Honestly regarding DLC i think Beth made a good choice welcoming modders onto their games because we add what we want to rendering no need for DLC. Infact there was even someone modding Skyrim to include solstheim way before Dragonborn was announced (He eventually had someone put areas he was going to put in it into Dragonborn).

Well the scaling down idea seams the most plausible to do. Would be awesome. I can't stand that Skyrim is so small it's just a bit bigger then the forest outside my house. I know Beth wanted small and detailed but adding more wilderness and making the cities just a bit larger( adding outskirts and such) shouln't have hurt that bad. They shouldn't have focused that much on that stupid 11-11-11 release date, like that even mattered. I would gladly have waited another half year or maybe even one if i got a bigger and better created game. Let's hope they don't make the same mistake with the next ES.

i would certainly like to reopen this topic now that I finally have a laptop that can play more than solitaire without lagging. I agree that a bigger map would be significantly better, it was one of my major complaints about the game...also the removal of short swords and the ageis (shield) spell/enchantment...and the lack of monster diversity. Moving on, I believe having a workable Skyrim the size of the Oblivion map or even 2 or 4 times bigger than it currently is will not only be a vast improvement in the vanilla game but also turn the game into a modder's playground. Also I rather liked the DLC, however in terms of Dragonborn I would also like to see a bigger Solthsteim. I'm not so concerned with the height mapping as I feel there simply isn't enough land mass to really run around on.
