invariably ctding in certain areas

happens any time i go near the central urban area or try to enter the mechanist lair (it happens while loading on fasttravel) i'm aware there's already a thread sorta about this but for my specific load order:

 

i've used loot, or tried to

 

disabling "the code" delays the crash but it still happens when i get a little closer or wait a while

 

i would give up and fork from a much earlier save but i've spent a lot of time on settlements, maybe i'll try and import them over if that tool thing allows importing mod objects

FO4 engine is not that friendly and the engine itself is probably the major cause of CTD's, especially when we load the game with too many mods that are known as "heavy" mods that could contribute to CTD's.

 

I saw your load order and I do not see the Unofficial FO4 patch; I also see that you have a lot of Vertibird mods and also you have WOTC ( I do too ). WOTC is a very heavy mod and it has been recommended by the author of this mod that in order to help the stability of your game, to turn off vertibird spawns ( did you do it ? ); at the same time, you have, as I said before, a lot of vertibird mods outside WOTC and they are not contributing to your game stability IMHO.

 

You have a lot of mods that I do not know if they are also over stressing your rig, like Build High and others in your list like Synths mods. LOOT is a good tool but what the author suggest in his/her mod description related to compatibility is what we should follow not what LOOT says. I do not know if you have followed their recommendations or not.

 

I have been researching about CTD's and there are some things that we can add to our .ini file to avoid crashes, like adding ( under General ), iPreloadSizeLimit=8388608000 ( assuming that you have 16 gb of RAM ) so this line will allocate 8gb of RAM because it is known that probably the game engine is consuming too much of RAM in certain places and by so, the game will crash. I have not use it though but it has been recommended by some players.

 

Also, go into Steam/Library/FO4, right click and go to Properties, Local Files and Validate the game files twice. This will help with stuttering and some crashes. Anytime you add a mod or remove a mod, I do this and it does help. Somehow, files are missed and that does not help. You need to recover those files. You can have the best rig out there but the engine of this game is not the best, so the only thing we can do ( IMHO ) is to install mods that are fully tested and according to the author' suggestions and if it is possible, one by one or 5 by 5 and find out which ones are contributing to our CTD's. I would not install Vertibird mods beside WOTC. They consume a lot of memory and your fps will drop and cause CTDs'.

I have that problem whenever I go near Greenetech Genetics/ Monsignor Plaza area. The only way I have found to overcome it is to use the TCL command or sometimes CTC if I have managed to get there before. Both methods have a 50% chance of working. It's especially bad with Railroad missions which go there a lot so I often just autocomplete the quest.

Out of curiosity are you getting a message after the crash or just a straight CTD?

Also, have you installed the Optimized textures? it really helped me with a lot of my issues, it didn't stop all my crashes, but it helped.

Are all your mnod's up to date, older mods can cause havoc if not updated to their latest versions?

 

 

and are you using the beyond the borders mod? that was causing ALOT of crashing for me.

sorry for the delay, i forked an old save in the hopes that it would solve the problem. it did not, i still crash inevitably in the city areas.

 

i don't use the unofficial patch as i've heard it conflicts with a lot of things

 

no message, it just straight out closes

 

no beyond the borders

 

i will try the ini thing, edit it didn't work

 

now it's crashing when i try to fast travel from an area but also happens if i stay around there, effectively stranding me in a city block
