MrSly
Good day all, I currently have an animal follower that I made, and I'd like to be able to set a new location for his "home". I placed my Bear just outside Helgen, and when I dismiss him he returns, faithfully, to his starting point. I'd like to tell him to go to just outside my Whiterun home, or my Riften home, or the middle of Riverwood, it doesn't matter, just to go wherever I tell him to return to. I was able to do this in Oblivion for a Dunmer companion, but have no idea how to accomplish it in Skyrim. And yes, I will be using it for humanoid companions as well. I know I need to make a dialog option to set home location ("This is your new home"), but what commands/script to use to accomplish this? Any help will be greatly appreciated! r1de
You just wont stop the self punishment will ya Sly? :P (neither can I apparently)I can sort of imagine how it would be done but I can't think of a good example to look at. Is there any NPC in the vanilla game that does something like that?Maybe need to recreate something along the lines of changing houses after marriage? MrSly
Ha! It's true, it's like an addiction! I just want him to be better than he was before... better... stronger... faster... Good call. I haven't explored the marriage thing at all in any of my games, so didn't even think of that. But I'm thinking they have markers set in the houses and just have the NPC move to the existing marker. Still, at least that portion of code might help. The way I did it in Oblivion was to remove the "home" marker, create a new marker at the current location, then assign the new marker as the home point. It was basically 3 lines of code. Since everything has changed in Skyrim, I don't know if it's possible to dynamically create new markers or remove old ones. Or if there is a new way to define a location that I don't know about. Oh, and since I have you here, r1ce... Did you comment somewhere that you made a follower who had their own pet dog? I'm thinking about doing that as another mod with Sniffles... scottmack
In the hot files list there is a mod called "Spouses can live anywhere" While at the moment they dont support companions, they are working on it. Otherwise no such file exists that i am aware of.
r1de
Oh, and since I have you here, r1ce... Did you comment somewhere that you made a follower who had their own pet dog? I'm thinking about doing that as another mod with Sniffles... Yes I did. I'd need to go back through it and see exactly how I did it. I believe I hit on the idea when I was reading the tutorials and read a part about a skeleton following another NPC, who would attack with him. I actually understood what the tutorial was saying at this point, so I tried it and ran with it. It's her and her dog, they are allies, the dog follows her wherever she goes, and she follows me as a custom marriageable follower. :smile:Just recently, I think I've actually figured out how to get her to "own" the cave I was making and she'll/we'll use it if I tell her "Let's go live at your place", get the sleeping bonus and all. works out pretty good, but it does get crowded sometimes with her, her dog and shady all at once... but that's how it is in real life too. I have a screenshot from a while ago around here somewheres..... *edit* oh yeah, I was also thinking of that "spouses can live anywhere" thing to try and use as an example for what you were trying to do. *and again*found the post you remember... with pictures even! r1de
By Talos, here we go again.... you got my gears-a-squeaking... Since I was just trying to figure out how to get an NPC to treat a house as "theirs" (at least in the instance of the marriage quest(s)) yesterday and a little today, I went and looked a the marriage quest again. specifically the RelationshipMarriageFIN quest. in there there is a "Location Alias" attached to that quest, one of the conditions for that alias getting set is a keyword. Could you not create a new keyword, attach it to certain locations and fill a location alias for *your* quest? I don't know just a thought... I need to try and stop thinking about all this stuff, we were camping last weekend and we were walking by a creek, I could have sworn I heard a nirnroot plant humming away in the bushes somewheres... and I haven't even hardly *played* the game in a while it seems... is that bad?? o_O
