Semiavas
Brand new to mods and the Nexus site, so hello. I tried searching for this, so apologies if it's a noob question or something. I'm downloading a few mods manually (I prefer this way) and I was wondering if I can put them into folders to keep my data folder neat and tidy while still having them run appropriately? Like so:Skyrim Special Edition > Data >{[]Mods[]videofilefile...} Skryim Special Edition > Data > Mods >{[]Mod A[]Mod B...}
Jeir
FYI, this forum is for site questions/feedback; although your question is 'modding in general', it may have been better off in the SSE forums, as you're specifically asking about that game.As for your question: no. If a mod has data/meshes/potato as its directory, that's how it must appear in your /Data folder. If you try Data/PotatoMod/meshes/potato, then nothing would happen, other than your /Data folder getting bigger despite no active mods.I believe NMM/MO have options for 'virtual folders' (or something; I've never used either, only manual/Wrye, so wouldn't know) which keep mod files outside your /Data folder. Semiavas
Ah okay, I thought it might be like that, thanks. Yeah I was asking in general and using SSE as an example.
Thandal
Even just asking "in general", the answer would depend on the specific game (or at least, the specific game engine) involved.
