i guess you think you can play with your old savegame with a fresh install. you can not if you have not uninstalled all these mods properly you had used in your playthrough. Much things from the mods are baked in your savegame!

i just can say - before updating or downgrading you should have a 2nd copy of the whole fallout4 gamedirectory and the settings in c:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\ and c:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Fallout4\

if something goes wrong or in case of a better workaround its allways good to have these copy somewhere on a disc.

Make sure you don't have any interface files installed. I had the crash on load issue but, I forgot to remove my custom interface files. The main menu was updated and for me the cause probably was an out of date MainMenu.swf.

Look in your data folder to see if you have any loose interface files. They could also be packed into BA2 archives from mods.

Hope that helps

I will do some googling and try to find out what an interface file is, and try to remove it. thanks a ton. I was about ready to get into modding for fallout and this has been really upsetting not even being able to run vanilla F4

if anyone knows a link, i would like to know ALL of the folders and files i need to delete so if i do another install it will truely be vanilla
