bloueddeu
I GOT A QUESTION THAT NO-ONE WOULD HAVE AN ANSWER FOR.-Okay been playing for about 80 hours, level 60, having mild fun.Found about skyrim nexus recently, done a lot of mod-adding-ups, including blood/dragonPISA/shadowmere for companion/.. the whole shebang. Main quests all finished, alduin and Paax resting in peace.-Today, As I went to the library of the Winter something college, i encountered several NPCs who tried to give me Misc quests, and ALL of them gave me quests with objectives like "get a <Alias=book>", "go to <Alias=dragonhold>" and etc.-I deleted all the mods cause I got a panic attack, and to give time for the scripts to terminate themselves, waited 32 days straight in-game. Nothing helps. -So i guess my Radient Quest Systems aren't working anymore, but cannot figure out why. Simillar symtoms i found on internet; http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/497448-aliasitem-to-get/http://twitpic.com/7yl210-http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/492446-bring-one-quests-are-bugged-out/This link suggests that it doesn't have anything to do with beginning a new game..-I am sad, disappointed, angry, and most of all sleepy. Werne
It really doesn't have anything to do with starting a new game, but it has nothing to do with mods either. It happened to me as well so I started a new game and the first thing that happened is "Bring Ysolda one <alias=QuestItem>. I tried verifying integrity, completely uninstalling all mods, reverting to 1.3/1.2/1.1, even re-installing the game, nothing works. Now I just avoid radiant quests. Staind716
I was going to suggest verifying files or a reinstall but the person who was posting at the same time as me already tried that. All I can suggest is a google search. Edited March 3, 2012 by Staind716
Werne
Heh, now I've read those threads you linked and the fact that a mod caused this to those users made my brain work. And so I started to disable mods again, but this time I figured out what caused it. I never guessed that would do this kind of a problem. It was the official HD Texture pack, once I've disabled it everything worked fine. Not everything though, now Amren won't train me in one-handed but he's an arse so I won't talk with him anymore. Now I need to extract the BSA's and install the HD textures manually. Ah, well, at least my quests work again.

It's just the Radiant Story AI all bugged up from day one, and Beth. hasn't gotten around to fixing yet (fingers crossed for fixing). The High Res. DLC should have nothing to do with it, the "Official DLC" has 2 esp.'s they are "dummy" esp.'s as in they do absolutely nothing that a "normal" esp. would do, it's just that the content is on 2 bsa. files, the esp.'s just have them (bsa.'s) to load without changing the ini. bsa. load list. Check out the DLC fixed files here on the Nexus for more detail, there are bsa. and a "loose" files version. Bsa.'s being easier, but the loose files load a little bit quicker. The fixed ones tell to eject the esp.'s (and change ini. for bsa. version) and regain 2 mod slots (254 max mods + Skyrim esm. + Update esm. = 256 total check boxes for launcher). Hope that helps some...
gsmanners
I wouldn't be so dismissive about that fix. I mean, the HD texture pack *could* be causing some kind of random corruption, which in turn can cause unpredictable problems.

I totally agree, but if so it should only be the esp.'s causing the problems and the fixed DLC suggestions should effectively kill 2 to possibly 3 birds with 1 stone so to speak (3rd issue being fixed file paths). gsmanners
I don't mean just the official HD texture pack. I mean *any* HD textures at all, whether packaged or not, could cause problems thanks to the way the engine allocates memory. The fact of the matter is that if you use textures that are high enough resolution, it will crash the game. Ergo, the game does not handle them in a robust manner. Ergo, even ordinary textures can cause crashing or possibly just ordinary (random) corruption. I don't think people are giving this possibility enough consideration, either. In particular, if you have a lower spec system, you need to think seriously about things like this or you can expect to have a lot of problems (not just weird problems with quests). BlackCompany
Sorry to hear about your problems. After 100+ hours, I can tell you, with absolute certainty, that should you choose to simply avoid the Radiant style quests...you will miss absolutely nothing of value. Nothing. At all. In fact, if you instead simply take pleasure in exploring, and venture into random dungeons on your own initiative to discover their stories, without the idiocy of 'fetch x for y' hanging over your head the while, I will venture a guess that you will enjoy your time in the game much more. Numerous bad things have befallen the Elder Scrolls since Morrowind. Radiant Story is easily the worst of a terrible crop. It promises "hundreds of hours of repeatable quests" but delivers only an endless litany of meaningless fetch and return quests that are absolutely devoid of any thought and which all summarily fail to evoke, in any way, any sort of emotional buy in. There are so many of these, in fact, that after a while they make the world seem fake, as if it exists just for your own pleasure, like some perverse theme park. Radiant Story was not an enhancement - it takes all care and all thought out of quest creation and turns it over to a spreadsheet and an algorithm to design random-generated snore fests. gsmanners
To be fair to the designers, Radiant Story was a "clever" design that tripped up in the implementation phase. It's one thing to have a great idea (which Radiant is). It's another thing altogether to match it up with the reality of game production.
