jayvenute
Hi- Has anyone else encountered an issue where levers and pull chains have stopped functioning? It's happened to me twice in as many days, the first time a lever to open a gate in Alftand, the second time a pull chain to open the last gate in the Dawnstar Sanctuary while doing the "Cure For Madness" quest. The Alftand thing I thought maybe was a fluke, but when it happened again in the Sanctuary, I knew something was up. In both instances, I can activate the lever/pull chain, and it moves, but the gate doesn't open. Strangely, it only happens at certain times. I was able to use all of the other pull chains in the Dawnstar Sanctuary with no problem at all. The last one, however, refuses to work. I'm playing on a PC, and I thought maybe one of the mods I installed might have had something to do with it. But I then disabled them all and tried again, and encountered the same thing - the lever/pull chain just wouldn't open the gate. Eventually, I just used the console command "TCL' to turn off Collision and just walk through the gate, but I have to believe there's a way to fix this. Or if not, does any other PC player know the console command to activate a lever/pull-chain? If I have to cheat to make it work, I'd at least like to cheat by performing the task I'm trying to do, instead of just hovering through the wall. Call me a purist. Does it sound to someone in the know that I might benefit from uninstalling/re-installing the game? Any help or advice regarding this would really be appreciated. I've scoured the web but I can't find anything about this anywhere. Thanks.

aaronlt
This has happened to me twice. Bring up the console with the door or gate visible, click on the obstructive door or gate, and type disable. If you selected the wrong item on accident, just type enable before you exit the console or select another item. It worked for me both times. jayvenute
Thank you for the work-around! Strangely, the problem seemed to right itself - at least for the Sanctuary gate. I went back to test out your advice and the chain worked fine. But I'm keeping your advice in mind should I encounter this again. This has happened to me twice. Bring up the console with the door or gate visible, click on the obstructive door or gate, and type disable.
