Extracting .rar files

I need some help with extracting. My code will not compile no matter what I do and I read that I need to extract some files to WINrar, which I dowloaded. But I haven't seen a step by step tutorial on what to extract and where. If you could link me to one or just tell me, that'd be great. Thanks.

Get rid of WinRAR and download/install 7zip instead.

What mod are you trying to install manually?

I'm not installing any mod. I'm making one. I've read that none of my scripts can compile because of some .rar file? I'm not sure.

Look in your data folder and you should see a Scripts.rar file. extract the file and place it in your data folder. But I do not think that is your problem due to reading your other post. Usually when the vanilla scripts are missing from your data folder you will receive an error message saying that the TESV_Papyrus_Flags.flg is missing when trying to compile scripts.

But just in case. These are old instructions I wrote in another forum a few years ago, after the last game update. But I do not think they pertain to the Legendary Edition.

1. Find scripts.rar In your C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data folder.

2. Extract the contents scripts.rar to your desktop.

3. Open the extracted file and look for the Source folder it should be in \Scripts\Scripts\Source.

4. Copy the Source folder and drop it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data\scripts and over write when asked.

5. Reinstall the SKSE scripts ( make sure latest version) and over write when asked. http://skse.silverlock.org/ (may not be necessary)

If you have any scripts that you have created in the scripts folder they will not be effected unless of course you have not named them the same as the vanilla versions
