Election 2012 in Skyrim!

~Hello and Welcome to Election 2012, Skyrim Edition!

 

This is a role-playing forum game designed to establishing lore-friendly political parties for Skyrim. Once they're established, parties can run against each other for the Presidency, Vice Presidency, and Parliament (Moot) of Skyrim.

 

--I: The Idea--

 

1. We, the people of Skyrim, found and support lore-friendly political parties.

 

2. When we reach ~10 parties, we hold a poll to gauge their support.

 

3. Based on the results, we will know how popular the parties are. Larger parties may choose to go it on their own, but smaller parties may form coalitions with each other, dividing their Pres/Vice/PM nominations among them.

 

4. Parties and coalitions nominate candidates. Must be selected from in-game personalities.

 

5. Hold vote for ultimate power.

 

--II: Hypothetical parties--

 

Major Parties:

--Grand Imperial Party

--Nordic People's Party

--Forsworn Liberation Front

--The Brotherhood of Azura

--Mages for a Democratic Skyrim

--Aldmeri Ascendance Party

--Skyrim Mercantile Advance

 

Minor Parties:

--United Khajiits

--Bosmeri Green Party

--Union of Patriotic Nords

--Stronghold Heritage Front

--Followers of The Voice

--Reformed Falmer Alliance

--Argonian Action League

 

Remember, all parties have renounced violence, at least explicitly. As such, leaders are political figures and not warlords. Their military prowess =/= political success.

--III: Further Action--

 

If we're successful enough, maybe we can establish a lore-friendly government for Skyrim, consisting of a parliament (Moot) of all our candidates. Said parliament could discuss important, lore-friendly issues like:

 

--legalizing necromancy

--allowing falmer into parliament

--high rates of incarceration in markarth

--minority rights in skyrim

--civil war reconciliation

--humanitarian aid to winterhold

--aldmeri relations

--reentry into the empire

--improving relations with morrowind and hammerfell

--replacing incompetent jarls

--reducing crime

--promoting trade

 

If overwhelmingly successful, perhaps we could also establish a Tamriel Model United Nations, with delegations from:

--aldmeri dominion

--the empire

--morrowind

--hammerfell

--khajiit

--argonian

 

But that is down the road. For now, get busy organizing your faction.

lol, this is great. Personally, I'd support the Grand Imperial Party who'd certainly support re-entry into the Empire and minority rights in Skyrim (as the Imperial province has certainly been the most promoting of other races in the series). I'd support a candidate who opposed necromancy, opposed allowing Falmer into parliament (might conflict with my minority rights statement a bit but I make exception here), would do more to reduce crime, take action against the lazy and incompetent Jarls, and someone who would support promoting trade with other regions. Furthermore, we'd need someone who could promote industry in Skyrim and stop relying entirely on Markarth which I believe leads to the situation we are in now.

 

I'd assume the Nordic People's Party to support Humanitarian Aid to Winterhold, oppose Aldmeri Relations, oppose Re-Entry into the Empire, oppose messing with the traditional Jarl system as it is, and oppose promoting trade to encourage nationalism.

 

One could probably really go into some detail here on the issues, laying out agenda's and action plans, and, most certainly, debating. If you REALLY want to get controversial and edgy add in "Mara Marriage between a Man and a Woman". Maybe we could have a candidate who wants to outlaw magic due to the it's inherent danger and chaotic history, I KNOW there'd be a LOT of NPC character's willing to support that guy.

No Molag Bal party? For shame. Anyone else would be too weak and pitiful to vote for (especially that limp-wristed and pathetic Boethia). :P

Given that my vote would surely go to "nationalized" parties (such as Nord party, argo party etc...) I am quite sure that in a democracy(or democrazy XD) where the vote is given to those that wear the costumes of the voters and show their power with speech and money (as usual politicians) the winning party would be probably composed by those "Mercantiles affialtes" for the power of their money (the new sword of the new comin era) . As that would probably occur, the MA (mercantile affialtes) would surely legalize anything that could bring more incomes to the governments, moots that got the votes. Thing such as Necromancy could be taxed for body used and things like that.

 

Apart from that, I would surely love to see such a mod done (even tho It would take an entire expert team to do such a crazy idea XD) Wish you the best luck !
