ElderGamer1
First off, I'm new to the board...I thought I had done and seen it all on Oblivion. I was just playing my freelance Combat/Mage Nord Female character. I love running around after mid-nite-Gametime. I was in the flatlands by the Old Bridge area, or if you have the Prima world guide Pg. 35 from #16 to #39. The horses were running as a small pack. I tried to follow a chocolate one but I was attacked by bandits toward the shore area possibly the Sweet Water bandit camp? All I know is after I killed them all, I kept looking and all of a sudden I saw one of the horses quite dead near the ruins. I really upset. This sighting/experience was not a Mod or a Quest. Someone tell me if you have experienced something like this? Thanks....

Have had it happen where a bandit, broke off an attack on me, and went after the horse the Legion horseman just got off of. Happily, the Legionnaire wasted him before the horse was killed. I stole the horse and joyfully rode off, leaving him standing beside a dead bandit and yelling about the thievery.

But believe it's only in that little area south of the IC and north of Bravil, the plains banking the lake. Maybe up toward Cheydinhal too. It's rare though, due to how leveled lists work, and some mods may end up making it even more rare. As far as free horses, I don't think so. If I remember correctly, you can't mount any of them due to their status as prey (they run from you), they are just wild horses. You may want to use the normal text style, some of us may have trouble reading your post.

Guest
Something a bit like this happened to me last night. My character was running the trek from the city to Rufio for the Dark Brotherhood initiation when he stumbled upon a unicorn and three minotaurs. My character is a Str/Agi Sword/Marksman Dunmer, so I just ran around for an incredibly long time and used nearing 200 arrows to kill the minotaurs. Nothing I had could get rid of the unicorn, so I looted the 'taurs and ran away. That unicorn followed me with a vengeance all the way to the inn, stopping to take out wolves or bandits. After I finished the mission I popped back out of the inn and it was just standing around, so I found myself a fast new mount!
Halororor
You ran through the Grove of -can't remember-, I love that unicorn, though getting rid of it's gaurdians, the minotaurs can be a pain.
TokyoLil
I read somewhere that the Unicorn will attack you if you are armed in any way. I haven't tried this but I reckon it functions as a mount if you put your pointy sticks away. Also, in the Deadric quest for Hircine he requests that you butcher those same Minotaurs and do for the Unicorn too. Like a few of the quests that the Deadra set for you in the game it seems a little distateful and the reward ain't all that. Armour with a 25% resist magic on it. Honestly and objectively, the Unicorn is much more valuable (and nicer) alive. Um...not so much for the Minotaurs though.

ElderGamer1
I know exactly what you ran into. This was part of a Daedric Quest for (Hircine). The traveling directions to this place are on page 215 of the Oblivion Prima guide. You have a pretty tough character....Dwemer=Dark Elf right? You had to be prett crafty to kill them off. I think I had a magical weapon to help me. I rode this most beautiful steed all over Cyrodill. The Quest asked for her horn...meaning you had to kill her. I'm not about that at all. What did happen was a land Dreugh got her.....I was not happy at all. I think what I saw will never happen again. (right time right place)PA if I am not supposed to erase a reply please tell me I'm still learning how to do this.... If you do not have the guide I will send you complete directions. :thanks:
helzi
I ran into the same horses! :DYeah, it's sad when they die. I remember when I first got the game spending hours just defending the deer. Whenever a bandit hit a deer, I'd beat them up.Sad, I know...Well... back to the horses. I tried a number of times to mount those horses, but I don't think it's possible. Sure, you can chase them, and be just as fast as them, but there's no wa to jump on them. I used to think you could do something fancy like with the unicorn and ride em. No such luck... -.-Yeah, I'm not very helpful, I'm just venting. :D
