weidude12345
So I only started playing Oblivion a few hours ago after I was done with Skyrim.I was doing the quest where you enter your first Oblivion gate, and then one of my friends messaged me so I pressed Alt+Tab to switch out of the game. After about 5 minutes, I went back to the game and the game was paused in my inventory. So i pressed tab to go away from the inventory. Then the screen just froze. The music was strangely still playing in the background, so i force closed it and started Oblivion up again. But now, the entire world is empty. I can't even see my own character, its just one big color in the background. My health bar, magicka bar, everything at the bottom is there, except for the world.when i try to walk around, I can hear the armour clanking, i can even go into my inventory and see my character on the right, but no world.is there a way to fix this?please comment i was just starting to enjoy the game :(

Lanceor
To be honest, I don't know what it is, but since no-one has answered yet, I'll give it a shot. Have you tried restarting your computer? (I know you probably have, but let's get the obvious stuff out the way.)When you say the world is empty, is it like your character is blinded, or are you walking around a void? Can you see anything at all?Is the problem still there when you start a new game? Are you running any mods? If so, please list them. What are your system specs, (graphics card and CPU) and are your graphics drivers updated to the newest?Open the console by pressing the '~' key and type "tlb" (without the quotes). Does that make the screen all bright or does it do nothing?Do you have the Steam or a store bought version?
bben46
I have seen this also. When you get that blank screen, go into the Task manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del)If using Win7 you will then have to click on 'Task Manager'While in Task Manager, click on the Skyrim icon on your quick launch bar at the bottom of the screen - NOT in the task manager screen. That should bring the game back, with the task manager screen now hidden behind the game screen. Make an immediate save just in case. I have not seen this problem since the next to the last Bethesda patch though. If not. You may have to use task manager to shut down the game and restart it from scratch - losing everything since your last save. I have also had to press the reset button - usually located next to the power button on your computer case to kill everything and reboot the computer.
