jalin1
I'll include some pictures but my mod manager just randomly stopped adding mods into my data folder after successfully activating them and i have no clue why. As you can see the mod is showing as activated but it isn't adding the mod to my data folder i tried restarting my mod manager and deactivating and reactivating the mod but it still isn't working. Along with any other mods i try activating though earlier it was working just fine.
Jannifer
First, NMM doesn't install mods directly to the Data folder. What it installs is a little placeholder which directs the game to the actual mod. Secondly, if the mod doesn't have an .esp file, and most mesh or texture files don't, then there's nothing to show in the Data folder no matter how you install the mod. As long as the changes are showing in your game, then you're good to go. :D
Soulbringer1
NMM is not installing the data files at all. It installs EMPTY FOLDERS. The mods do not work without the files. You wind up manually installing the files into the empty folders. then the mod works. NMM is not working, Plain and simple!

You wind up manually installing the files into the empty folders. then the mod works. NMM is not working, Plain and simple! My Solution. I had changed to an SSD drive, and installed everything there including Nexus. It stiil did not work, textures and meshes not being installed correctly or at all, empty folders. I tried everything, change permissions on SSD run as admin etc. I was sceptical of Mod Organiser 2 as the author moved to Nexus to create the new coming Vortex. I downloaded MO2 for Skyrim SE and boom, everything worked perfectly. MO2 installs mods to a virtual folder, not the Data folder. I am finding MO2 is working surprisingly great for SE, just like the old MO for Skyrim. I currently use it for Skyrim SE, but it can be used for other supported mods like Falllout 4. The older MO for classic Skyrim works on the same principle, virtual folders. You can download MO2 from here https://github.com/LePresidente/modorganizer/releases
dualm
This may be a lot of work, depending on how many mods you have but try uninstalling all mods (there's a tool in NMM to disable all mods for this) use an uninstall program to remove all NMM files, then download the NMM program again. Another point is to always download your mods without NMM, from Nexis and add them to the program with the tools it provides. I have a separate file for mod zip-folders that I direct NMM to install.
