Why is dagoth Ur the bad guy. After reading the battle of Red MOuntain in Vivec's library it sounded as if the Tribunal were the real badies. I mean they murdered Nerevar and then they took Kagrenac's tools from dagoth ur even though he tried to stop them. I mean if that happened to me i would be pissed at the tribunaal too. Does everyone feel this way or is there some part of the story i'm missing.

There are two versions of the Battle at Red Mountain. One depicts, truthfully or not, the Tribunal as the people who murdered Nerevar so they could become immortal with Kagrenac's tools. This version was written by the shield-mate of Nerevar, and was circulated among the Ashlanders.

The second version says theat Dagoth Ur is the true enemy. When you talk to Dagoth Ur, you will see why- he plans to use violence to take Morrowind back from the Imperials and drive the "n'wah foreigner dogs" from Morrowind.

After Vvardenfell, he plans to use the Numidium to take over the rest of the world.

There is no definitive 'true story' because there were no witnesses to Nerevar's death apart from the Tribunal. And the only member of the Tribunal in the game is Vivec; he maintains that Nerevar died of natural causes and that he used the tools of Kagrenac to save and unify the people of Morrowind.

The decision of who to believe lies with the player- I beleived that Nerevar died of natural causes. I the Tribunal were an evil trio, terrorising Morrowind for their benefit, then I might think otherwise. As it is, they have a unifying religion that brings the people of Morrowind together.

But Almalexia went mad. She went mad because she came into realization with her own re-newfound mortality. Being a human and becoming a god would be hard, but harder still would be having that tremendous power removed. A natural reaction would be to remove all competition to ensure her own success in being a surviving god. And, after all, it WAS the Nerevarine who took away her immortality when he destroyed the Heart of Lorkhan.

It's quite sad what happened to Dagoth Ur, he did his duty, which was to protect the heart and the others seemed to turn against him.

Regardless of whether he is evil or not, he does definitely seem to be insane. The 6th House decor and the transformation of its highest ranking members can give testament to that.

Now that i think about it Dagoth Ur might not be so bad.... just a lil nutty, allot like an ex-telvanni, he has that crazy some what evil genius sorcer quailty like the telvanni, and the way the tribunal just turned on Dagoth Ur dose seem a lil harsh, sitting in a lava filled cavern beneath a Dwemer ruin by your self for years gaurding a Dwemer device of great power would probably drive any of us nuts, so in my oppinion Dagoth Ur isnt so evil as hes made out to be, hes just missunderstood, and a lil insaine, not to mention a lil necromantic... with those ash zombies, ghouls, slaves, and ascended sleepers.... and we all know how the Dunmer, and the temple veiw necromancy....
