Liutauras13
Ok. I downloaded and updated everything from Automatic Updates, but Service Pack 3 wasn't there. Can you give me some Web Sites where i can download?
bben46
SP3 is available free from Windows update. It may not show up if you have checked it to be invisible. OR if you have not rebooted your computer after installing all of the other updates. Updates are not finished installing until you reboot. If you have not allowed updates for a while there could be lots of them that need to be installed before Update will even offer SP3 - It NEEDS these prior updates to work. Last time I worked on a WinXP that had not updated in a while there were over 70 updates that needed to be installed. It took all day. Download, install, reboot - repeat over and over until done. Not all updates are offered at once, some rely on others that must be installed before them. SP3 is a very large and time consuming update and should be installed by itself. Be sure to install all of the other available updates before SP3, and don't have any other updates selected to install at the same time. Be sure to set the updates to show any that you have hidden also. Getting the SP3 from anywhere else - especially pirate sites, can be hazardous to your computer (and your sanity) as things like this are favorite ways to get you to download and install a virus. Plus, you may not get all of the required updates that are needed before the SP3.

So i'm very sorry for my stupidness and i cant see anywhere "Windows Update". I have only Automatic Updates, Microsoft Updates and Programs Updates at my startup. At Control Panel I cant find it too. So my question is that Windows Update is a program or a Web Site? PS: Sorry for my bad English.
Illiad86
Sheesh, I haven't used Windows XP in quite a while....it should be around in the Start menu somewhere. You can also try and go to: windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and you can check this support page from Microsoft about SP3: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322389

I launch it, it shows its extracting and then error window comes up:"The core system file (kernel) used to start this computer is not a Microsoft Windows file. The Service Pack will not be installed"What the hell should i do?Can i walk around this sh*t? :)
Illiad86
Hmmm....well here's some other articles you can read. I looked up that error: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_other-windows_update/the-core-system-file-kernel-used-to-start-this/301d3f34-2f24-4cda-ad0f-4a8d2900e896 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/327101 Never had that error ever installing a Service Pack. Have you modified the boot.ini or any other core files in Windows? You possibly might be stuck with doing a clean install of Windows :( Edited March 9, 2012 by Illiad86

Illiad86
Figuring when I search it, all that comes up is downloading from TPB and other torrent sites. It's a modified version of Windows XP with pre-installed programs. Unless you installed it after installing a legit copy of Windows XP, it's illegal. If you did, because you have LastXP, you will not be able to install SP3 because LastXP modifies many core (kernel) files.
