Ender108
If I take into account other processes running it still doesn't make a difference. I'm no where near hitting any limits on my CPU or GPU. Also forgot to mention I'm using ENBoost. I guess it must be a DX9 issue.
dubiousintent
A 4GB VRam limit in the DX9 drivers is plenty and still should not cause stutter. Try running with the game set to use lower video resolution as a test. Looking back to your first post, apparently the problem didn't appear until after you installed two big texture mods (NMC and OJO). I'm assuming you installed the "hi-rez" versions. Try uninstalling them both, and see if the stutter goes away. If so, try installing only one at a lower resolution (2048x2048 for instance), and test. Also make sure you are not using the game's built-in "auto-save". That causes problems when fast-traveling. Please see the 'Essentials for Getting Started' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article. Edit: I haven't used it myself, but you might give "BethINI" a try. It backs up your INI files and makes it's own "tweaks" to them. Includes support for ENB and ENBBoost. -Dubious- Edited September 23, 2017 by dubiousintent
Ender108
When I uninstall the texture packs the stuttering goes away. I switched from the High Res version to the Medium Res on NMC's and POCO Bueno but the stuttering is still there. Not as bad as the High Res but still very noticeable. Autosave is disabled. I set the Resolution to 720p but that didn't help either. I used BethINI and no results from that either... I have no idea what's going on. dubiousintent
You've confirmed your problem is that the game is forced to read more often from disk with hi-rez textures, resulting in "stutter". With the size of VRAM on your video card, combined with ENBBoost, that should not be happening with the Medium rez versions of both those texture replacements. (I'm running both on a GTX760 with 4GB VRAM and ENBBoost without issues.) Edit: Please see the 'Issue: Is ENBoost for everyone?' entry in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide. So, have you run the "vramsizetest" tool from ENB, and then set ENBBoost as recommended? What sizes did the test report? What does ENBBoost show for VRAM on the game startup screen? What is your screen resolution/size? -Dubious- Edited September 25, 2017 by dubiousintent
Ender108
vramsizetest reports 4064MB and it's set in my enblocal.iniIn game it reports 4064MBI play at 1920 x 1080
dubiousintent
Then I see no reason why you should be experiencing stutter as that's virtually the same as mine, except perhaps that you haven't mentioned which OS you are running. If on Win10, then you need to see if there are others with similar problems on the ENB Performance forum (even though the author doesn't support Win10). Please see the "Configure enblocal.ini" section of the S.T.E.P. Project ENBoost Quickstart Instructions. Make sure you have all those settings correct. Note that specifying too much "ReservedMemorySizeMb" in enblocal.ini can cause stutter as well. -Dubious-
Ender108
I removed ENBoost and the problem still exists so I don't think ENBoost is the issue. The only thing I can think of is some software incompatibility that limits the use of my GPU or CPU. I guess I'll have to wait until the Creator's Update releases. JustChill
However, Win10 DX9 drivers currently have a VRAM limitation of 4GB imposed, so you may need to use lower resolution textures until that is fixed in the October "Fall Creator's" update. Wait, what? They finally fix that lousy bug, which is present since Windows 8? Well, it's been more than 2 years when I read the first report about that issue.https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/1263324/gpu-memory-allocation-limit-on-directx9-windows-8 I wonder if we should consider that fix pretty quick for Microsoft? oO
Ender108
Windows 10 has a stupid 4GB VRAM limit on all DirectX 9 applications. The creator's update fixes that.
Ender108
I've read some reports that ENBoost can sometimes do more harm than good. Removing it didn't solve my issue so i'm still trying to see if anything works. My only guess is that my hardware and New Vegas just aren't mixing well together. I wouldn't be surprised as the games engine is ancient.
