SnazzyRose
Hi everyone! I tried posting this on r/skyrimmods, but I was hoping maybe someone here could help as well. I've had occasional issues with my game crashing when I try to save, but I've always been able to fix it using the player.kill method (https://steamcommunity.com/app/72850/discussions/0/540731690766780373/). Other than that, my game has been quite stable. However, after playing for a while yesterday, my game began to crash when I tried to save and the usual fix didn't work. Upon further testing, I discovered the crashes were only occurring once the in-game clock reached 12PM on the 12th of Evening Star, 4E 201. I've tried saving in different locations, sleeping/waiting past that specific time, etc., but the crash still occurs and the only thing in common is the date/time. I've also tried using the console to set the date back to the previous month, but that also didn't fix it. Verifying the integrity of the game files through Steam also did nothing. Has anyone else had anything like this happen? What could be happening at this specific date/time that's causing the game to crash when saving? Could it be mod-related? Here's my mod list, in case it's any help: https://modwat.ch/u/SnazzyRose/pluginsI use NMM to install mods, and LOOT to sort them. I've been playing this character for over 150 hours and really don't want to lose her! However, I'm still new to playing modded Skyrim on PC, so I really have no idea what to do to fix this. Thanks in advance for any help! Fkemman11
Wryebash. Learn it, love it, use it. Also TESVEdit.
SnazzyRose
Thanks for the response. I have Wrye Bash, but what exactly would I use it for in this instance? Would I use it to check for conflicts or errors in my mod list? I'll definitely also give TESVEdit a try.
SnazzyRose
So I'm in the process of learning to detect conflicts using TESVEdit (feeling a little lost, though this is probably because I'm a noob). However, I tried going back to a much earlier save and then waiting until the date/time that was making the game CTD upon saving, and oddly enough I was able to save without crashing. This problem seems to have appeared after doing the quest "Blood on the Ice." This just makes it weirder. Why would doing a certain quest make the game crash on a specific future date? I'm not fully convinced that the issue won't reappear, so if there is a mod conflict I would still like to get it sorted out.
Fkemman11
Sometimes the vanilla game doesn't update quests properly. I had a similar problem with another quest because I had missed one small detail and then another for no apparent reason. So I just save more often and go back if things screw up. SnazzyRose
I guess that makes sense. It just seems odd that the quest completed normally and I was able to save afterwards, and then the "CTD while saving" issue appeared when the in-game clock reached 12 PM on 12/12. There must be something about that date, but I have no idea what. And whenever it crashes while saving, a .ess.tmp file appears in my "saves" folder and it's always 1152 kb in size, indicating that the game is crashing at a particular point during the save process. I'll play around with my older save later when I have the time and see if the issue reappears. Thanks again for your help!
Fkemman11
Blood on the Ice has always been buggy as far as I know. I have to reload and do things over in that quest at least once or twice every time- and I have done that quest at least 30 times. As for your time specific issues, that is hard to say, but I think that it is due to the game not updating quest properly like I said. Wish I knew more to tell you.
