ToyTrains1
This has bothered me for a while. Both F4 and SKSE use pretty much the same game engine. So why in heaven's name does it take almost forever for F4 to initially load or load a new area when fast traveling whereas SKSE does so very, very rapidly? And I'm talking about the base games with no mods. It just doesn't make sense to me. Anyone have any idea of what's going on? Asking BGS is like yelling into a black hole -- no response, no echo, no nothing. Thanks for any input.
DoctorKaizeld
not sure what BGS is but i can say that i have no real issues with unmodded load times... also SKSE is Skyrim Script Extender which is a mod.
ToyTrains1
BGS is Bethesda Game Studios. And I use SKSE to abbreviate Skyrim Special Edition.
DoctorKaizeld
okay... on these forums though SSE is how we abreviate it to avoid confusion
Zeppelin1996
You could use the Load Accelerator mod if you are worried about load times, although I think the mod author says it only works with SSDs for some reason. I use it myself. It won't make a massive difference, but I've timed it and it takes about 10 seconds off when loading my saves. The only other thing I could recommend is to move the game onto an SSD if it isn't already on one.
SharraShimada
No skyrim special edition does not use the exact same engine as fo4. They have updatet skyrims engine with SOME of the newer features, but not completly, because that would break the whole game. And then: Fo4 textures are HUGE, compared to the ones uses in skyrim. Its also heavly scripted. Skyrim not so much, because the older engine could not handle as much. You cant just compare the engine. Skyrim is a 6 year old game, and it was developed for computers in that era. FO4 was developed for much more powerful computers, with the abilites of 64 bit systems. And last but not least, skyrim is patched/modded to the peak by the comnunity (and many patches are used by bethesda themself)FO4 still gets patches from bethesda, and they screw up something every time. Given those circumstances, we should give FO4 another 2-3 years, when bethesda stops crap-patching it, and the community can finally start to fix all the bugs bethesda build in. belenbelen
Well it doesn't have anything to do with the Script Extenders. Oldrim uses a different game engine while Fallout 4 and SSE uses almost the same engine properties. Also i suspect Fallout's textures and scripts are bit heavier than Skyrim's. Zzyxzz
Fallout 4 uses much more objects than Skyrim. I would say, about 5 times? Scripting has probably a very low to zero impact on loading times. The biggest issue are objects and textures. Bethesdas textures are a mess. Huge and not optimized.Compare them to FlaconOil and Hein84 textures. They look amazing and improve performance. Using a retexture, optimization mod will reduce stutter, make the game smooth and increase FPS by a huge amount. But even with optimized textures, the mass of objects will still cause long loading times. Skyrim is much simpler than FO4
