Looking for talented writers

I need help for my mod. I am currently quite busy in writing / finishing the Lore (quite complicated as I must make sure it is in line with Bethesda's lore), as well as working on meshes/textures/scripts... name it! Since I'd like to publish the mod this year (..), I really need some help for providing original books with the mod. I've already written one... But I am not a writer, and took to much time juggling with it until it found the bottom of my trash!

 

Here is the thread for my mod: Caves of Marvels. There's also another little mod that I've released exposing a small part of the lore (a new version 3.0 is coming very shortly btw, so wait for it before downloading unless... Well do as you want. lol), entitled A Provost Of the Nine Divines, but the book(s) will get published with the Caves of Marvels mod.

 

Here's what would be great to include:

• A new book of ludic poems, that will be granted by the "Tom Bombadil"-like character who's personality is described here..This book will provide Intelligence skill and Speechcraft skill increases. As long as your text is well written (and not sex related), it can be funny / nonsensical, seriously boring, stupendously inspiring, ... I'd prefer poems, but since I know that it is one of the hardest form of authoring, prose is good...
  
• one or two other books if needed, depending of the amount that I can gather. If you want any specific image to accompany your text, please provide a link and I will include it (must be copyright free, like an in-game screen shot for instance or anything from your own creation).
  
• Preferably, your text should occupy one page, or at most 1.5 pages using the standar font used by Bethesda for its own books. If you need more space, well maybe it'd be a good candidate to have a book of its own, we'll see.
  

Hoping for some feedbacks, I bow before all you talented writers who are able to give some sense to otherwise insipid mods...

I'd like to submit a book of TES inspired poems, also, I write all kinds of poetry and have no trouble with any forms, even complicated meter and feet like sonnets and triolets, and since I've just discovered the world of TES in the last couple of months I'm having a lot of inspiration:

The Goblins stalked furiously

Very nearby

 

I pulled my cloak about me close

And crept toward the hill

Shadows colluded with my foes

I've never been a fighting man

-A delicate soul and meek-

My revery was broke just then

"Rapscallions seek to steal our gold

Short on life and breath

Take care to call on Gods of old

Terror gripped me in its fist

Hey, replies! Hello and sorry for my "absence", I was fighting against CTDs, shutdowns, and had to deal with a myriad of very unpleasant things surrounding my home computer... Now it's done, on the road again! :smile: One important note: I am NOT a writer. Although I like to read and write, I find myself very bad at it. More over since my mother tongue is french, which can sometimes become frustrating on English forums, when ideas are hustling out of my brains, bumping over each others, lacking the sufficient tools to let them out without sounding chaotic or mentally ill...

dezdimona, sex is fine with me... Sexual evocation if you want, more precisely erotica, not porno... But I know that it is VERY hard to write something of a good taste when the theme and the goal itself revolves around sex / sexual arousal: it's too easy to fall into the "cheap sex for the selling" low common denominator material. One approach is to complicate sex as if it was a very hard and sophisticated activity only accessible to "chosen ones", where sexuality would be a trophy, an end for the means - a mean for an end either-, a priced pleasure that is not a human basic trait, but a tabooed reward to power, any power ; another approach is to associate sexual arousal with deviance, violence or spite humiliation, accompanied with a somewhat heavy atmosphere, as for vampires and such, where sex itself is associated/reserved to some "evilish" activity ; another is to use a myriad of objects, words and synonyms, trying to develop some Freudian sex addiction from the the reader toward the author, where everything is sexually arousing - the book itself is such an object ; another approach would try to explain the why's and how's and when's in some tedious and wordy mind games ; others would academically decipher each and every biological mechanism taking place during some arousal: heat, shivers, and so on... In conclusion dezdimona, be my guest, as I find this type of literature to be of the most difficult to master: it's easy to evoke sex and create tension and arousal, it's so easy that many won't provide the effort of an Artist, offering an emotional and balanced literary talent, going further than the insipid works offered at Wall-Mart's best seller shelves... So yes, go ahead and post erotic texts, if they are not vulgar (with a premise considering that sexuality is not a vulgar guyzmo in itself), they'll find a room that's for sure! :)

 

Here is one example that is part of the mod, for a book that will be used to summon a Rifter Crystal (an apparatus used for controlling movable rifter pads around Tamriel - 1, 2, 3, 4). It was written by Jake the Snake, and it's all I have under hand to this day :rolleyes:. The idea was to give some suave, erotic and even extatic emotion to the rifting (teleportation) process in itself, as if the Actor who created those rifters and wrote the summoning book was completely addicted to the precess of rifting through interdimentional planes - I am even thinking of including such a plane "in-between", a Zone between the planes of harsh and physical reality (of which Oblivion plane is part, note only Tamriel/SI), and the plane of dreams and immaterial through which the player goes while his/her cells are transferring from one place to another... So dezdimona, if you have something different (the reference to Sithis is NOT mendatory - actually it would be better without it), go ahead:

I am only opposed to cheap porno depictions, or over-exaggerated deviance which sole existence has the role of putting down taboos: I wasn't raised by puritans to consider sex as a taboo, thus I find that these kind of "rebellious scriptures" are meaningless - keeping sex as a taboo and thus considering the extremes is more lucrative, maybe that's why deviance is "promoted" in our medias, on both sides, porno-freaks and puritans alike. For instance, I find it very weird that a movie gets rated for adults, for the sole fact that a nipple could show on the screen while a mother is feeding her baby: that's deviant! Anyways, look above if you need a first theme for your erotic text, and thanks! :)
