steamtacular
Exactly as the title says. I'm trying to add settlers to a settlement via the creation kit. But it doesn't seem to be working. The settlers appear and can be interacted with to an extent. But I can't alter their inventory or assign them to anything.
speedynl
just adding them works but you forgot something, just dropping npc(settlers) in any settlement means they don't belong to the settlement, you have to send them there firstif they have the workshopnpc script and its setup right they wil be added to xx settlement, then you can talk/trade/put them to work you can use keywords to, but i forgot witch 1 where needed, just look at the official from the settlement Edited October 6, 2017 by speedynl
steamtacular
its weird I can command them in settlement editing mode. But instead of being actually assigned to something they'll just run over to it
willyb9
its weird I can command them in settlement editing mode. But instead of being actually assigned to something they'll just run over to it yeah what speedynl is saying is you have to assign them to the settlement itself before you can assign them to any activities. in workshop/build mode, you go up to them and there should be an option that says "move" or "move to" or something like that which lets you move settlers between settlements. spawning npcs in a settlement doesn't mean they're assigned to the settlement i don't think. after you move them to the settlement you want them to go to, you should be able to move assign them to tasks and everything else you can normally do with settlers. steamtacular
I'm trying to make it so they're like the settlers that come as standard with some settlements.
steamtacular
So continuing to fiddle on and off while looking for guides. Can't seem to get this to work. They're there, they can be interacted with but won't let me assign them to anything. They just run over and use a stealthboy then wander about unassigned. On top of that can't trade with them.
speedynl
in build mode, you select the settler, you will see a list/words that say move/supply and some more, when you have select x settler pick move, a list should show with settlementssend them to the 1 you want then, hit enter, the population should go up with 1, if this happens you can assing them to do anything in settlement if the population don't raise then there is something wrong, i don't know how you add settlers, but the best way is duplicate 1, rename it and drop that 1 in settlementand yes when they don't belong to any settlement and you send them to work on food, they run there but do nothing all in all you do something wrong, i could make xxx new settlers in the past and all worked like intended, but i had to send them first to xx settlement
steamtacular
Build mode is not relevant to what I'm trying to do here.I'm just popping into it to see if things are working like they should. The plan is for the settlers to work out of the box. They're being put there via creation kit and should just work without me having to do anything further. BlahBlahDEEBlahBlah
I'm gonna say this, even though it sounds like self promotion, look at The Small Addition mod.Check the settlers/Army Men posted in the Big Master Bedroom. Set them up like that. I've forgotten exactly, but it has to do with locreftype and connectingvthem to the workbench. Edit: Yes, I know it's a lot to download, but it's a good example of how to do it, for sure.
steamtacular
Ok its sort of working but not perfectly so its time to consider workarounds. If I put a recruitment beacon in a settlement with the creation kit and make it self powering. Will it recruit settlers to an unclaimed settlement?
