Aragorn58
I have a perhaps silly question I hope someone can answer. I've been playing Skyrim Special Edition on and off since it has been released, waiting for SKSE64 so I can run some of my favorite mods with full functionality. I have always played the game with Steam in the Offline mode since downloading. So obviously it has not been updated. So my question is this. If I do not allow the update what are the ramifications? Will I still be able to use mods that are ported after the update or if I create any new content and upload it will it be able to be used without issues (aside from the norm). Does the update involve the CK? Does it fix some of the issues like the dialogue views not working correctly?
Wolfer4004
Working backward with your questions; The "update" isn't a update at all, it only adds the Creation Cancer and doesn't fix anything. The ramifications are that mod authors are going to be forced to make mods that require the latest version of SSE, so you won't be able to run those mods (SKSE,SkyUI....)Most ported most will likely work with 1.4, but new mods probably not. thumbincubation
From my recent experience, you may encounter some oddities with update. In my case, half of my steel armor options (at the forge) somehow had missing names, so I could craft them but they were unplayable. Lockpicks also completely disappeared from the game. I ended up having to move all my mods, delete and reinstall SSE, then put my mods back and go through the loot/wrye bash/sseedit process again, in order to fix it. Aragorn58
Yeah I kinda figured Beth wasn't done screwing with us. I guess I'll stick with my beloved "Oldrim". Its stable and has all I want. And each time I play through other than the basics like SkyUI, SKSE, and a few others I can change it up to whatever I like.... BlueGunk
I applied the update, but like Aragorn58 I play offline all the time (a habit from old Skyrim to save memory). I did ask this kind of question on another forum line but got no answer. So thanks for raising it. I believe the new update does change some things. I use the Abduction SSE mod and this changes stats and factions for bandits and other NPCs as part of the mod. This has stopped working properly from the update, so it's reasonable to assume these tables are now slightly different. Also Arthmoor has updated the Unofficial Patch. I do not use the Creation Club. Here's a list of changes to the base game: https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/72wxwf/skse64_203_alpha_for_runtime_153/dnlz0ny/ Normally updates tend to knobble DLLs and external tools but I'm guessing we do have some game changes - probably bug fixes. However, so far as I can see 95% of my game plays on untouched, and since I play offline I don't get the Creation Club stuff appearing on my screen. I've also got an experimental SKSE game (updated) and that seems pretty happy although there's not a lot going on in it yet.
Moksha8088
Update sounds like a bit of a misnomer. Might be better to say Creation Bloatware Edition, and yes many future mods will adhere to the Creation Bloatware Edition.
