Is there a specific mod limit?

I am having trouble even starting the game and loading saves with my number sitting around 41 but removing one or two of them fixes the issue.

 

I also have a question regarding script merger too, does that actually merge the mod files in to one folder at the 0000Merged_files rendering the originals unnecessary or do you still need them? That would help immensely.

From searching on Google ive seen people say they haven't had issues using even 70 plus+ so its either changed in a previous patch or i am hitting some texture limit, as likewise removing specific texture mods makes loading a save fine.

It depends on your mods, your PC and moon phase maybe.

You should not delete "originals"

Mod number limit is 256 esp's and plugins. This number is rarely achieved as the more esp's that you have the harder it is to make them all work together. Texture mods use up your machine's memory but do not count in the 256 limit as they do not have an esp. Depending on your machine's memory you might be running into a memory limit.

the mod limit comes down to how many of the texture.cache files you have which is related to graphics mods. how many blob.bundle files i think count toward the limit as well. Dont forgot that DLC mods count toward the limit. Around 200-250 is probably the limit on script mods. Script mods i pull out the original scripts from the mods folder that i already merged and only leave the merged scripts folder.

 

For script mods there might not be a limit just gets extremely hard to merge as you get over 200+ scripts together. Use Mod Merger by DJ_Kovrik to merge graphics mods together. The mod limit gets lower and lower with each new patch you upgrade to. So for example game version 1.08 will be able to handle more graphic mods then say game version 1.22 or 1.30 can handle without merging them together.
