cumbrianlad
Hello, folks. I've got a weird new problem with CK. It won't render exterior cells properly, no matter how long I wait. Interior cells, fine. Exterior cells... half the landscape is missing. As you can imagine, this makes it nigh on impossible to position objects in exterior cells. I've tried adjusting all manner of things in the settings with no luck. This has just started happening and it's the same for any exterior cell. Take a look at the screenshot to see the problem. Any ideas? It's driving me nuts. I have noticed that every time an exterior cell is loaded (whatever I set 'cells to load' in settings), the message at the bottom of the cell tells me CK is loading some other cell some distance away from the camera position. It's as if it's trying to load every exterior cell in the game.
agerweb
Check in Preferences>Misc that you have not got some large number of Grids being loaded; keep the number to 5/
cumbrianlad
I've even set this down to 1 It makes no difference.
AnkhAscendant
Does it load them if you press F5 in the render window? I found that suggestion when I had some ghost-architecture.
cumbrianlad
Sorry to say, I've tried pressing F5 to refresh. Same thing. It works for interior cells (I only use it when I've hidden certain items and want them displayed again, nit because the render window isn't functioning properly. F5 doesn't make exterior cells get any better.
agerweb
Is the the SSE CK your talking about or the original?
cumbrianlad
Sorry to be late in replying. I've been doing my head in trying to rectify the problem! It's SSE CK (64 bit). Here's the good news. I deleted and reloaded CK (64 bit). The problem has gone away. External cells now render perfectly in a matter of seconds. Here's the bad news. Whilst I can still work on my old mod in the new and glorious CK, I can no longer coc into it from game (I could before I reloaded CK)... the game just CTDs. If I make a brand new esp I can coc into that from the game. I can coc into, say Breezehome. It's not yet hooked up to Ravenrock, so I could try that and see if the game crashes when using the loadcell door. I ran the old esp file through SSEedit and it came up totally clean, not even one green highlighted line anywhere, let alone amber or red. I've tried deleting and replacing the coc marker but it makes no difference. I'm at a loss and there's a fair bit of work in that esp that'll go down the pan if I can't get it to work. I was trying to coc into it from a clean save that I never used when mod-testing before I reloaded CK. I'm away now to start a new game of SSE and make a save in case something has got corrupted with my old saves. Clearly, something was very wrong with creation kit, since reloading it cured the render window completely. Right now I'm going to start a new game with no mods on and make a save to use just after leaving Helgen. I'll see if that new clean save allows me to coc into the cell. cumbrianlad
Oh joy! starting a new game didn't help... so I looked at every object in the cell view window (took me a while). Any I thought should not be their I viewed... ... sure enough there was a DLC2DarkElfTableNarrow and a Default bookshelf marker that weren't in the cell but still showed up in the objects for the cell in the cell view window. I deleted them, went back in game and voila! I'm in when I coc to the cell! I vaguely remember trying a narrow table and deleting it, rather than swapping it. I definitely remember deleting the bookshelf and markers. Oddly enough trying to view both dodgy objects pointed the camera at a spot in the void under the stairs. No amount of swinging the camera around could detect either item in the render window... weird, especially as the stairs in Severin Manor are near the load door and the bookshelf was at the far end of the bedroom, as far from the stairs as you could get and still be inside the manor. I thought that was the sort of thing SSEedit was supposed to pick up on when checking undelete and disable references? Anyhow, I'm off for a cup of coffee to celebrate... it's just past midday, so a little early for the bottle of rum I'd have liked to consume! What a marathon for two stupid little objects.
